Stonehenge Half Day

Itinerary

Admission included120 min

Travel back over 5,000 years time to prehistoric Britain and explore the ancient ruins of the world's preeminent Neolithic monument. Enjoy 2.5 hours to explore the site at your own pace as you step inside the reconstructed Neolithic houses, furnished with replica axes, pottery and other functional items. Inside the world-class visitor exhibition centre, come face-to-face with a 5,500-year-old man and discover over 250 archaeological objects on display, including jewellery and even human remains. Admire the impressive megaliths of the ancient Stone Circle, some of which stand over 9 metres (30 feet) tall and weigh more than 25 tons. Along the landscape of the Salisbury Plain, you'll see hundreds of barrows that stretch as far as the eye can see. Find out why these barrows exist, and answer other important questions along the way such as 'who made Stonehenge' and 'how was Stonehenge built'.

I would really have liked...

I would really have liked to have had a guide to talk to us on the bus about what we might be seeing along the way and some information about Stonehenge before we got there.

No time!

It is a long way to go and for us we had very bad traffic. The traffic resulted in us arriving late, reducing the time had at Stonehenge. We had to rush to make it to the bus in time to get back to England. We felt the time at Stonehenge should not have been reduced.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry that the heavy traffic affected your journey and significantly reduced the time you had at Stonehenge. We completely understand how disappointing it must have been to feel rushed after such a long journey. We appreciate your concern that the time at Stonehenge should not have been reduced. While traffic can unfortunately be unpredictable, we understand that guests want to make the most of their time at the site. Your feedback is valuable, and we will share it with our team as we continue reviewing the itinerary and guest experience. Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. Stonehenge half day tour

Really comfortable journey, and the air conditioning was very much appreciated in the middle of a heatwave! The free Wi-Fi was fast enough for the basics, such as WhatsApp and Facebook. I was also able to charge my phone on the way back, using the USB port. The driver was excellent at navigating both the London traffic and the busy motorways. Evan Evans was easy to find at Victoria Coach Station, I was ridiculously early—just in case! If you do arrive early, there are plenty of coffee shops and toilets, plus a Sainsburys just a short walk outside the coach station. I also really appreciated the staff checking people in. They noticed when people tried to queue-jump by stepping in front of me (something that happens far too often when travelling solo) and, just before opening the doors, asked everyone to line up behind me. A small thing, but it made a big difference! Stonehenge itself is well worth a visit. Two hours was plenty of time to see the stones, browse the gift shop and grab something from the café. Overall, a really enjoyable and well-organised trip.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a comfortable and well-organised journey, especially during the heatwave. It’s great to know that you appreciated the air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and USB charging facilities. We’re also pleased that our driver made the journey feel smooth and safe, and that you found the meeting point at Victoria Coach Station easy to locate. We’re especially happy to hear that our check-in team made you feel looked after and ensured the boarding process was fair and organised. We agree that those small details can make a big difference! It’s wonderful to know that you felt two hours at Stonehenge gave you enough time to explore, visit the gift shop, and enjoy the café. Thank you again for sharing such thoughtful feedback and for choosing Evan Evans Tours. We hope to welcome you back on another enjoyable adventure soon! Kind regards, Evanevanstours team

Historic must see

The bus boarded orderly and left on time. However, the Wi-Fi didn’t work and only one type of charger could be used, making for long trips to and from. The self guided audio tour was very helpful and informative, but it appeared this free app could be available for anyone. It was pricey, but this historical site is a must see if given the opportunity.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re pleased to hear that the boarding process was orderly, the coach departed on time, and that you found the self-guided audio tour helpful and informative. We’re sorry that the Wi-Fi was not working and that the limited charging options made the journey less comfortable, particularly on the longer trips. We also appreciate your comments regarding the audio tour and the overall cost. Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with our team as we continue working to improve the experience. We’re glad that, despite these concerns, you felt the historical site was well worth visiting. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you on another tour in the future! Kind regards, Evanevanstours team

Meh…

Instructions on where to find tour operator would have been helpful ahead of time, we were ok as we got to the station early. Host and driver were very friendly. Bus was nice, new and cool on a very hot day but very very uncomfortable seats - I know how that sounds, I was not expecting a lazy boy, but the seats were hard as a rock which killed my back on the two hour ride there and two hour ride back. I feel like this was an expensive tour for a bus ride as this is not a guided tour (you can download an app that tells you a bit about Stonehenge) took a whole of 10 minutes to walk around Stonehenge and that was it. I wouldn’t necessarily deter you from the trip but we aware that you get a bus ride there and back (no bathroom) and enter to Stonehenge - that’s it!

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re pleased to hear that our host and driver were friendly and that you found the coach clean, new, and comfortably cool on such a hot day. We sincerely apologize for the difficulty finding the tour operator and appreciate your suggestion that clearer instructions should be provided in advance. We’re also sorry that the seats were uncomfortable during the long journey. We understand how uncomfortable a four-hour round trip can be when the seating does not provide enough support. We also appreciate your comments about the nature and value of the Stonehenge experience. Your feedback regarding the journey, facilities, and the amount of time spent at the site is valuable and will be shared with our team. Thank you again for joining us and for helping us understand where we can improve the experience for future guests. Kind regards, Evanevanstours team

We enjoyed our trip to...

We enjoyed our trip to Stonehenge a lot. It was a great way to get to the site without having to navigate a rental or other means of transportation. The two hours on site was plenty of time to take the shuttles to the rocks and still grab lunch at the cafe. Our only concerns were that 1. the checkin at the bus station was hard to find at first, disorganized, and a little hectic, and 2. the seats in the bus were uncomfortable as the bus was probably not designed for such a long ride. Other than that, everything went smoothly and we'd recommend others to use this service.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for sharing your detailed feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Stonehenge and found the tour a convenient way to reach the site without having to arrange your own transportation. We’re also pleased that the two hours at Stonehenge gave you enough time to explore, use the shuttle, and enjoy lunch. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and hectic experience during check-in at the bus station. We also appreciate your comments regarding the comfort of the bus seats, especially on a longer journey. Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with our team as we continue looking for ways to improve the overall experience. Thank you again for recommending our service despite these concerns. We hope to welcome you on another tour in the future! Kind regards, Evanevanstours team

It was nice for what it...

It was nice for what it was. It was, basically, just transportation to and from Stonehenge with an audio guide tour. If you’re looking for a fuller experience book something else. Maybe something that stops elsewhere along the way and has a guided tour. This was a six hour day with four hours spent traveling to and from. I think now I probably should have opted for a 10 hour day or an eight hour day with other stops along the way.

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Stonehenge and found the experience worthwhile. We appreciate your comments regarding the structure of the tour and understand that guests have different preferences when it comes to the amount of guided content and additional stops included. This particular experience is designed to provide convenient transport and the flexibility to explore Stonehenge with the included audio guide at your own pace, while our longer itineraries offer opportunities to visit additional destinations and enjoy more guided commentary. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, as your feedback helps us continue to improve and provide experiences that suit a variety of travellers. Kind regards, Evan Evans Team
