Itinerary
Catch a glimpse as we pass by the ruins of the Royal Palace of Linlithgow.
Visit the beautifully restored historic Stirling Castle.
From Stirling Castle, enjoy fantastic views over to the National Wallace Monument.
Our journey to Aberfoyle takes us along the banks of Lochs Venachar and Achray, through the beautiful Trossachs - the 'Highlands in Miniature' - and over the Duke's Pass scenic drive, a stunning Highland landscape of lochs and mountains.
This is Rob Roy country, popularised by Sir Walter Scott's books and poems. Legends and superstition of faeries or 'wee people' abound in these hills...
Here, by the famous ‘bonnie banks’, your guide will accompany you on a short nature walk, culminating in a superb Highland viewpoint and photo opportunity over Scotland’s largest lake and the Arrochar Alps mountain range. Scotland’s geological definition between Highlands and Lowlands can be seen in all its glory from here! Loch Lomond and the Trossachs were designated Scotland’s first National Park in 2002 and it remains an extremely popular area with locals and visitors alike.
We finish the day at Glengoyne Distillery, situated in a wooded valley in the southern Highlands. The distillery, which takes its name from ‘Glen Guin’ or Glen of the Wild Geese, has been producing a high quality single malt for nearly 200 years. You will, of course, have the opportunity to tour this beautifully located distillery and sample the delicious 12 year old product for yourself!
Doune Castle is famous for its appearance in Monty Python's Holy Grail, Game of Thrones and Outlander.

The tour #2 to Stirling Castle and the Whisky Tasting was the absolute best! We were a small group of 7 people total. Everyone on the bus was fun and enjoyed the experience. Our driver and tour guide, Roddy, was exceptional! He made the tour relaxed and educational. He was very personable and shared so much information on all things Scottish. He played great music too! I will be recommending him to everyone who wants to do this tour!
It sounds like you had a great trip with Roddy, thanks. Happy days!
We loved the tour, the castle, Loch Lomond, the horse heads, et al. Our driver and guide was a young lady who was knowledgeable, funny, informative, and a skilled driver. Kudos.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a 5 star review. It’s much appreciated.
The bus was not comfortable, the seatbelt digs into your hip. The Hairy Coos were an unexpected highlight. The nature walk was NOT guided, and took us about an hour to get through-it is beautiful but we were a little anxious that we would not make it back to the bus in time. Guide was sweet and the distillery was nice.
Hi Laura, thanks for taking the time to review Heart of Scotland Tours.
We were with the Stirling Castle and whiskey tour. Calum regaled us with his knowledge of Scottish history and keep up a running commentary that was entertaining and informative.
Much appreciated, thanks!
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Lovely itinerary. A mix of history, nature and whiskey. Can’t do better. Our guide Roddy was spectacular. We appreciated his manner, his knowledge and his music selection. Thank you so much for a great day
Brilliant, thanks for such a nice review of Roddy and Heart of Scotland Tours.
Heart of Scotland Tours is the best!! As has been our experience on previous tours with this company, we loved our guide (Roddy) and thoroughly enjoyed our tour!!
Roddy will be chuffed - thanks!
We had the best time. Roddy was an amazing guide - super knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended!
Thanks for such a nice review of Roddy and our day trip across to Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond.
This tour was brilliant! A great sampling of everything that makes Scotland..well, Scotland! Our tour guide was Euan and was amazing! Very knowledgeable and personable, kept us entertained the whole time. The small group experience is absolutely the way to go - so much more intimate and personal than a "big bus" tour. I'd use Heart of Scotland Tours over and over!
Hi there, thanks for your review of Heart of Scotland Tours and Euan. It sounds like you had a great day!
What a fun day! James took us on a day trip to get a variety of experiences that make his country so wonderful. We started with a trip to Stirling Castle, a beautiful castle that we had almost to ourselves because we arrived fairly early. We stopped in a small town at a popular bakery for delicious sandwiches before a quick stop to photograph the famous "hairy coo". The stop at Glengoyne was very well done - informative and generous with tastings. We finished with a trip to the banks of Loch Lomond, even getting a chance to stretch our legs and walk a bit of the path around it. In between visits James did a great job with history, Scottish lore and personal stories, plus plenty of music.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Happy days on the wee red bus!
Roddy was our tour guide and was fantastic. He gave great history about Scotland! All of the stops were wonderful. This was a great way to explore small parts of Scotland.
Thanks for your 5 star review and we're glad to hear you enjoyed the tour so much.
