Perfect for all ages
We did our trip with Bill. He was full of great scientific and historical knowledge as well as some fun trivia. This trip was great for us as there was a stop every 15-30 mins so the pace was great. The rainforest was amazing and less arduous than other tours I’ve done in Cairns. The forest is only 30 km from the city. The tour was well organised with snacks, toilet breaks and even umbrellas. Highly recommend for all ages. The natural arch and cloud forest were highlights. Back in city by 2:30.

The Orion Experience
We had an awesome tour with Orion! It actually ended up being just a private tour with our group, but it was truthfully one of the best tours I have ever done in any country. Orion was so knowledgeable and he made the trip top notch. If we are ever back in this part of the world, we would absolutely take another tour with him!

Rainforest trip in Aus
Excellent tour guide Steve, three beautiful rainforests and views. Lovely day to get out of the Gold Coast and enjoy walking amongst ancient trees.

Not worth it
Honestly not worth the time and money! The driver has attitude and reckless! The roads were narrow and hilly and he was driving so fast that we felt like we are on a rollercoaster! We had seat belts on and we are all holding the handles too.. one lady from the group had a hip pain because of the bumps and his irresponsible driving.

Tour lived up to expectations as described, and our guide Orion was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable! The van was comfortable but back seat window has less visibility in rain—opt for middle or front seats.

Time and money well spent
The half-day adventure in the hinterlands with Southern Cross Tours was worthwhile and far more grounding than many Gold Coast tourist attractions. Pickup was straightforward (in my case, they picked me up from my hotel). The weather was perfect for a day in the subtropical forests to see the waterfalls and natural bridge. Our guide was a fount of information, not only for the places we visited but for all things Australian in general. I also appreciate that the snack they provided was a freshly baked muffin from the cafe at Hinze Dam, not some packaged or ultra-processed food.
