Specialty Coffee Workshops in Bogota

I love coffee, so I had to do the Coffee Tasting tour with Laura! I had been to a plantation near Medellin, but did not find this tour repetitive. I loved finding the flavour notes in the coffee, learning about the coffee regions of the world, and specifically where our coffee came from in Columbia. We did two cafés that were each run by the family of the plantation and were from different regions. The first was in a beautiful setting and the coffee was pleasant. A good every day coffee. The second coffee tasting was so detailed by the staff, from pouring, measuring and tasting. I even stayed after to have a latte and journal! Laura was a great guide and knew her coffee. I really learned about how to read labels on coffee bags, checking for the kind of bean, is it mixed, when it was picked, etc. The QR codes on the bag gave very detailed information. I was the only client and Laura took me around the communities and telling me about their history, and pointed out some Embassies. It was a bit of a distance, but worth it. Maybe doing one in the Candelaria region would be good. I found a coffee shop that only used beans from Huila the next day!

We learned so much more about coffee than we expected, about coffee culture, history, growing regions and brewing methods and its effect on taste. The tasting itself is incredible, more like a wine tasting, with fragrance, aroma, body and flavors. We also enjoyed Camilas explanations tremendously

Wonderful walking tour of three Bogota coffee houses with Camila. She shared her knowledge of Colombian coffee with me, I managed to understand and define the complexities of Colombian coffee and finally understand why I like my coffee served in a cold cup. This is a wonderful, relaxed way to taste and see Bogota.

A friend of mine traveled to Bogotá before and recommended that I give this workshop a shot. The workshop price is good in my opinion. I was expecting more people to join us, as the workshop is open for reservation, but I was the only one this time. And I have to say that it was super interesting. My guide, Camila, was super helpful and did an awesome job telling the story of coffee, how important it is in Colombia, and guiding me through the different coffee types, how to navigate this sea of flavors that I wasn't aware existed before. The duration was excellent; we went a bit over the scheduled time, but I was so interested that it was such a joy! Camila did a great job introducing herself, ensuring that I was having a good time, enjoying the workshop, and learning! I would recommend doing this either alone or with friends or family. I suppose that having multiple people would make things even more fun!

Wow. So much to learn about coffee. Think of this as you might a wine tasting. Learn how to evaluate taste, flavor, aroma, body and finish. Camila shared plenty of knowledge about the coffee growing regions of Colombia … more than I can absorb. For coffee lovers, this is a fascinating education.

We went around with Camila. Very interesting. We did not imagine so much information. We are now called coffee. Thank you.

I was looking forward to this coffee tasting tour. However there was miscommunication and lack of details provided regarding the exact time or a direct contact outside of the trip advisor app / website was missing. Had Karen checked in even a few days prior to the event I would have had to opportunity to request a refund earlier knowing that I would have missed the time could have been helpful. I’m writing this now sitting in the cafe waiting and no refund. I had to reach out directly to Karen directly through a WhatsApp number the coffee shop manager provided me.

An amazing trip through Colombia’s coffee regions with delicious coffee. Learned so much about the history, culture, and intricacies of the varieties.
