Soweto and Johannesburg Exclusive Full Day Guided Tour

Description
Jo’burg. Jozi. Egoli. Built on gold, Johannesburg has always been a city of opportunities! Named after Johann Rissik (principal clerk surveyor-general of the Transvaal Republic) and Christiaan Johannes Joubert (chief of mining and member of the Volkstaad) who recommended the area be declared a goldfield, it owes its existence to George Harrison – a penniless prospector who first discovered gold here in 1886. Trace Johannesburg’s history from its humble gold-mining beginnings to the pulsing streets of this modern-day African economic giant with a personal tour from Stephenson Adventures. This tour is simply the best way to explore and experience the city of Gold.

Excellent tour with a very knowledgeable charismatic guide. Learned so much.
Didn’t like this tour as much as I’d hoped. Way too political and lots of passing the group off to other tour guides.
Thank you very much Mo, For us as a family, your tour through Johannesburg was wonderful; you addressed our questions and took our wishes seriously. The tour was very impressive and varied for all of us. We didn't just see Johannesburg, we also experienced/felt it.
We had a very interesting day with the whole family in Johannesburg. Our guide Mo picked us up directly from our accommodation. During the drive, there were many details about the history of the country, the city, Nelson Mandela, Soweto, and apartheid. The visit to the poorest neighborhood in Soweto left the biggest impression on me.
I took the private tour for a more relaxed day, I have to say my guide Collins was absolutely amazing , I learnt so much about South Africa history , Collins passion and knowledge is undisputed, he was professional without being too rigid, made me feel relaxed and answered all my questions that I asked, we had a very delicious lunch of South African food, the tour was about 6 hours long and worth every minute, I will be returning back to this amazing country and will definitely be using viator for my tours, pay that little bit extra and do the private tour, ask for Collins as well, he was great 😊
Steven was an excellent guide with concise, relevant and interesting information throughout the tour. All delivered with engaging good humour. The tour gave historical insights, human stories, cause for reflection and cause for hope in South Africa’s future. Thank you so much for setting so much context for my first trip to South Africa.
Driver was very good. Knowledgeable. Learnt a lot about apartheid.

Mo was an absolute legend as our guide, driver, entertainer and historian for the day. We had limited time in Joburg so opted for a full day tour Joburg and Soweto tour. Its a long day but worth every minute. Not only was Mo a walking history book, he had no trouble being able to go off script and explore conversational detours about the history of SA as well as contemporary challenges facing the younger generations. We learnt more about the history of SA in one day than we learnt through formal edudation, and to visit actual locations to bring this to life was amazing. Well worth it and a great day
