We had an absolutely fantastic day exploring Soweto, Johannesburg, and the Apartheid Museum. Our driver and guide, Tshepo, was exceptional from start to finish. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience feel comfortable and enjoyable. Tshepo shared so much interesting history and local knowledge, explaining everything clearly and answering all our questions. His passion for Johannesburg and its history really made the tour special. We never felt rushed, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. If you are looking for a great guide for Soweto and Johannesburg, we highly recommend Tshepo. Thank you, Tshepo, for an unforgettable day! 🇿🇦
Lebo If you can only do one tour in Johannesburg, and you want to get a feel for the city, this is the tour to book! Our guide, Lebo, was terrific. He met us promptly at our appointed meeting time at our hotel, then drove us to Constitution Hill, where we toured the old fort prison and Constitution Court. Afterwards, Lebo drove us throughout the old central part of Johannesburg, then past the FNB Stadium and on to Soweto. While in Soweto we visited several neighborhoods and historical sites, e.g., Mandela house, Hector Pieterson Memorial, the Orlando Towers and Vilakazi Street. We concluded our full day tour with a visit to Apartheid Museum. Whew! A busy day for sure but very educational and enjoyable. Lebo provided commentary throughout the day, answered all of our questions and helped us gain a better appreciation for South Africa’s and Johannesburg’s history.
Great way to see Johannesburg and learn about the city and its history—and the history of South Africa more broadly. Our guide, Lebo, was excellent: super knowledgeable, engaging, and eager to share. We participated as a family of our (with two young adult children) and all very much enjoyed the tour. We could have used more time at the Apartheid Museum, but that in of itself needs a full half day. Great experience overall and highly recommend Phillipians!
I had a great experience. Our guide Lebo was fantastic with great knowledge and insight. It was very easy to be picked up and dropped on time from my hotel and be taken to the sights , which I would have difficult to do on my own . Being a small group felt personal and was easy to adjust the day as it was a very wet day the day I went . Communication with Solly was very easy and clear . I would highly recommend this tour .
Very interesting and informative day to better understand apartheid. We visit Johannesburg and Soweto, it is very comprehensive. We have lunch at a restaurant in Soweto. Friendly and fascinating French-speaking guide.
It is a perfect tour discover Johannesburg. Our guide Lebo was so professional and informative.
A deeper insight into Johannesburg than we expected to get thanks to our guide Lebo. Having first hand experience of the city being born and raised here, his personal insights were both dark and illuminating. We visited most of the important places. Unfortunately 2 were closed due to a public holiday. We received a fair discount to reflect this though. Highly recommend if you want to truly see Joho.
Wonderful tour. Soweto & Apartheid museum were extremely moving. Tour guide, Ledo was very knowledgeable & friendly.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Special mention to our guide Lebo who was extremely knowledgeable & articulate making it a wonderful experience. Definitely learnt a lot in one day!
Our driver and guide - Lebo was very knowledgeable and the entire tour experience was great! Learnt a lot about the Apartheid and current political landscapes of South Africa, along with the daily joys and troubles of the citizens. A definite must try experience for anyone coming to Johannesburg! 👍🏼 He was also able to connect with us and share his culture even though we were of very different backgrounds.
