South Coast Sagas: Small Group Tour with Pick-up from Reykjavik

Are you ready for an extraordinary adventure? Join us on our South Coast tour, where you'll be immersed in a world of breathtaking beauty at every turn. As we travel south, we'll see stunning glaciers, farmlands, and volcanoes on one side, and the beautiful shimmer of the Westman Islands on the other. We'll visit the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall. If the weather is good, we can walk behind the water and feel its power. We'll also see Gljúfrabúi, depending on the weather. Next, we'll go to Skógarfoss, a huge waterfall that drops 60 meters. Then, we'll reach Vík í Mýrdal, a popular town, where we'll stop for lunch. After that, we'll visit the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara and enjoy the unique scenery. We'll follow the Viking Trail along the coast to Sólheimajökull glacier, where we’ll get close to the ice and enjoy the view before heading back to Reykjavik. Glacier hikes are not included. You'll enjoy this day of exploring in a small group, traveling comfortably in a minibus.

One of Iceland’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls with an astounding width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters
We will go up to the church where we can take wonderful pictures;
Iceland’s most famous black sand beach, featuring striking basalt columns and powerful waves. Lunch break included (the guide may choose an alternative location depending on weather or crowd size)
We make a stop at Sólheimajökull to admire the glacier up close, without hiking on it.

Pickup Locations & Times
- The pick-up process starts at 8:30 and continues until around 9:00 as we collect passengers from different locations. We kindly request that you be at your chosen pick-up location by 08:30 AM. It's important for us to have your email address on record so that we can send you an email 30 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. This email will contain a description of our car, including a photo and license plate number. We will also provide the name of the guide in the email. Our driver-guide will always stop, get out of the car, and search for you. They won't leave the pick-up point unless they cannot locate you. - If you are staying in downtown Reykjavik and you do not find the name of your hotel in the list, we will need you to use the bus stop designated to your accommodation. These bus stops were created by the city of Reykjavik to limit traffic of buses and larger vehicles in the sometimes narrow streets in the older parts of Reykjavik.

A delightful experience. Our driver/guide Einar struck just the right balance of being very knowledgeable/authoritative about Icelandic culture and locations, and being easy going with a great sense of humour. He was also very good at dealing with young children who over-excited and loud. The order of our stops was well-considered, and the cinnamon buns at the bakery we paused at near the beginning were the best I’ve ever eaten! Loved the playlist of Icelandic music (and have since added many of these to my own playlists) — another great taste of Iceland. Also loved that Einar knew so much about food was able to tell us about foraging at one end of the spectrum and recommend Reykjavik eating places at the other, with explanations of why he recommended them. Really pleased that reception staff at our hotel recommended this mini-bus tour when we mentioned we were looking at a coach tour of the south coast. Just wish we’d done the trip before our last full day in Iceland so we could have followed up on some of Einar’s suggestions.
Liked Martin our tour guide. He was knowledgeable about everything Iceland. Enjoyed the black sand beach and the waterfalls.

Smari was an outstanding tour, guide and driver! As an added bonus, at one stop, he played the guitar outside, which was very lyrical and awesome! I loved EastWest for the following reasons: 1. The day before you go to your bus stop, they email you with the type of car that’s going to pick you up, the license plate number, and the driver‘s name. They also remind you of the time of pick up. 2. Smari was courteous, professional, and informative! 3. Smari picked up people at different stops. At one stop the client did not show up so he took a board and wrote her name on it and stood outside for a few minutes waiting for her to show up. When she didn’t, he called his boss and had her email the client to find out what happened to her. It turns out she was at a different bus stop and he proceeded to go pick her up and the other two people in her party which happened to be around the corner. I was impressed with this! 4. On our last stop, Smari waited an extra 10 minutes for a young guy to show up. He didn’t have to do this, but he did anyway. 5. Smari was not only informative about telling us information about each stop we went to, but also gave us quotes and facts about Iceland. For example, Iceland has been voted the safest place to visit 7 years in a row. 6. I love the shuttle bus that picked us up because it was luxurious and very comfortable! I would prefer to travel like this all the time!

Smari was an outstanding tour guide and driver in so many ways!! As an added bonus,at one of our stops, he played the guitar for us which was very lyrical and awesome! For the following reasons, EastWest surpassed al my expectations: 1. Smari was courteous,professional and informative.I loved the information he offered about ever stop we went to. I also loved the extra information he provided about Icelandic people, fun facts (like Iceland was voted the safest country to visit in 17 years in a row) and quotes such as,'He does not call everything his grandmother means he is a tough person." He also answered questions off the shuttle. 2 We were informed by email the car model & license plate number, name of driver (Smari) and of course time of pick up, the day before. I was the first one to get on the shuttle which held 19 people.At one stop, no one was there so Smari called his boss so she could email the client to find out what happened. He did this after writing her name on a white board and holding it his hand outside for a few minutes.The client had gone to the wrong bus stop so Smari went to that stop and picked her up with 2 other people in her party which was around the corner.I was impressed with that action. 3. I loved our shuttle because it was so comfortable,as well as luxurious, and I would prefer to travel like that all the time. 4. Smari waited 10 extra minutes for a young man who was late at our last stop. I was once again impressed by that!

Long drive, but stops were worth it. Tour guides should be more strict on the time to be back to the bus because there are some really inconsiderate passengers. Simon P. The "Spicy Viking" was awesome - we had a comedy show the whole ride which was entertaining!

Even though we had rain that day the tour was amazing. Saw so many beautiful sights. Our guide Simon was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and really took care of his group! I would definitely recommend this tour.

Brilliant tour. 10 hours from pick up to drop off. Our driver and guide Baldvin was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and offered lots of advice at each stop. The waterfalls and glacier stops were really good.

Fun, albeit wet day on the south coast of Iceland with Simon P. He had interesting, new information despite our having been on several tours around Iceland over the past week. We had plenty of time to see everything scheduled, but in a different order than the itinerary as he tried to make the schedule fit the weather. We were hesitant to head out in the rain, but we had a great time.
