Intolerable animal cruelty in Jemaa el-Fna: Do not participate. Jemaa el-Fna square is a magical place full of culture, but its reputation is completely tarnished by the exploitation of Barbary macaques (chained monkeys). It is heartbreaking to see these wild animals, an endangered species, tied by the neck under the extreme sun so that tourists can take photos with them. Please, be a responsible traveler: do not approach them, do not take photos with them, and do not pay them money. Without demand, this cruel business will disappear. Local authorities and the Marrakech tourism sector must ban this immediately to protect the dignity of the city.
Nothing extraordinary on this place 40 stands that sell fruit juices, they all look the same. So many places to eat at the end of the day where we offer you a bit of everything. Some snake charmers (with snakes that seem very tired), or monkeys with football shirts. In short the set does not break 3 legs to a duck... It is especially the entry point of the souks and the place that all Moroccans know the way if you get lost.
Nice but really it's time to do something about the use of monkeys and snakes...it's uncomfortable to witness these scenes of abuse! I wouldn't go back! I do not want to condone this mistreatment. I also saw disabled women and children placed on the ground to beg... uncomfortable which spoils the atmosphere of this place
marrakech on a bicycle is something different ; i highly recommend it but just avoid the hot hours...

Jamaa al Fnaa is a place where you can smell the city of Marrakech, but even where to see such animal abuses: monkeys in chains just for enjoying the turist making a picture, snakes chucked on the ground, horses and donkeys forced to carry people on chariots: all this at high temperatures. Plus street vendors overwelming and pushing the sale.
Walk with guide, for 3 hours, around the old town, the French Quarter, the Menara, the souk, around the palace, Place Jamel El fna Youssef and his colleague are very friendly. They speak French. The bikes are good, not electric. We're offering you a bottle of water. Very nice to visit the whole center.

Here you can write 2 reviews for day and evening. No admission, within walking distance. Day: clear, not crowded, large space, some terraces, some stalls, you can move freely without being bothered much. The Café de la France is ok, in other small restaurants we visited the waiter tried to cheat again and again. Sometimes 10, sometimes 20 dirhams. Evening: Huge crowds of people crowd around and onto the square, older men try to grab women's crotch as they walk by (real happens); at the food stands you only get to know aggressive sellers!!! They introduce themselves, dragging and aggressively addressing visitors. We can only advise against eating here as long as this behavior does not change. We went to a side street to eat quietly in a nice atmosphere. ( Food of 2 soup+main course and gr.H2O of 160Dirham) The henna girls are very aggressive, you should be careful. Do not take valuables (young guys 12-17 have everyone in mind) no bags or anything else. But especially no cleavages up to the navel, hotpants or...unfortunately this is not always the case and you wonder if someone reacts badly. However, you should have seen the place day and night.
