Agila tours ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The tour to Chichén Itzá with Agila Tours went smoothly from the very first minute. Raul responded very quickly whenever we had questions, and everything was organized down to the last detail. We were a group of friends who had bought our tickets together but were staying at different hotels; a quick email was all it took to arrange pickups from the various locations. The day before, we received all the pickup times via email and WhatsApp. Our driver, Edgar, and guide, Carmen, were fantastic! It was a long day packed with information, yet it flew by. Muchas gracias todos!

Guide and driver were a 10!
The day was impressive. Our driver was Rodrigo and the guide was Miguel, and I can only say good things about them. Rodrigo was very pleasant throughout the trip and Miguel is impressive for everything he knows. The trip to Chichen Itza lasted almost 2 hours and throughout the journey he explained many very interesting things about the Mayan culture and its writing. We were a small group of 12 people and the explanations were very good. He also gave us tips on where to buy souvenirs and took us to one where they showed us how they made the crafts. Then we went to the Hubiku cenote and later to the Ek Balam ruins. It is clear that they know the Mayan culture very well and the schedules of when and how to go to each stop, because we were always alone and avoided the overcrowding of the groups. 100% recommended!

Best tour ever! Thanks Miguel!
Best tour of my life! Miguel was incredible, he knows a lot and gave us tons of great history and information.
We were a small group, just 7 people, so it was very personal. I loved that.
Itinerary was perfect.

Incredible Tour
We had an excellent tour on Friday 7th. Pick up perfect from our condo. No having to go to a central point or hotel. Only 6 of us in the bus so really personal. We had about an hours introduction as he did it in both Spanish and English on the way to Chichen Itza. We got there as soon as it opened, and at times we felt we had the place to ourselves and a few other early tours. We left about 11am - and there were streams of 50 people plus coming from every big bus tour.
Pay extra for the early. Tour guide got it spot on in terms of information. The real feel temps with the humidity were 40 degrees, and so whilst you do not see the whole site - we saw all the main elements. Too hot to spend 5 hours walking to see everything.
The cenote was simply stunning - and venue for lunch really good. A highlight was Ek’Balam. There were only about 10 people in the whole site and being able to climb (177 steps) a ‘temple/Palace’ and have that view over all the jungle was incredible.

A great experience
Had an amazing tour with Carmen and Edgar! It is worth the smaller group and early departure, we avoided the peak crowds at Chichen Itza. Carmen was so knowledgeable and that background information made us appreciate the history and sites more. Plenty of water provided and very clear instructions everywhere we went. It was a long and tiring day but memorable and worth it.

Carmen the Capybara and Edgar the Elephant
We almost cancelled.
When you go online, you can see mixed reviews about Chichen itza and frankly, I can see why. When you go alone, the stone structures are impressive but they’re stones. But when you go with Carmen, you get 30 years of her personal stories, eye for subtle details, and genuine passion for the civilization. She provides context in ways ChatGPT or Claude can’t. It’s a uniquely human ability to give context to seemingly flat stones and stretches your imagination to how the Mayan people lived day to day, how they perceived the rituals, and her own stories about growing up in the area. She points out little erosions in the stone structures that triggers an interesting story of why. She points out details that unless you somehow crouched down right at the right moments, would miss entirely. At Ek Balam, all the guide dogs come up to her. You can’t fake that. And even during free time to wander, you wish she was with you to bring the experience to life.
If aren’t sure about going, go. Atleast with Carmen and Edgar. They make an awesome, pressure-free experience.

MUST DO
Our trip with Carmen and Edgar was INSANE! We couldn’t even imagine trying to do this tour with someone else or trying to navigate this on our own. Carmen was very knowledgeable and Edgar was a very safe driver.
We were a little weary to wake up earlier and have a tour that’s this long, but we’re so glad we did. We beat most of the crowds for both chichen itza and the cenote swim, which made it that much more memorable and pleasant. They weren’t pushy at all and made it very memorable!!
