Our visit to Topkapi Palace and the Harem with Umut was awesome! He was professional, friendly, funny, and made life at the palace come to life. The tour with him was over 3 hours, but the time flew by. There is so much to see here and I think that without a guide, it would have been totally overwhelming. Umut was great about making sure that we had water (90+ degrees), that we knew where to find the restrooms, and then he gave us direction/recommendations for completing the tour on our own. Directions for locating the meeting spot were very detailed and it was easy to find. The best tour that we had in Istanbul! I would definitely book with Walks in Istanbul again!
Furkan was a fantastic guide. He did a great job of using stories and scenarios to explain the complicated organizational structure of the sultans. We were all enthralled. At the end of the tour he made sure to clearly explain the remaining portions of the palace and how best to approach seeing them. I highly recommend you try to request Furkan as your guide. It was a great experience especially for my mother who is 76 and walks with a cane. Kaan, our guide, gave us a very good tour and was patient with us and answered our million questions.
