It was a great ride 😍Sleepy Hollow has that old, mysterious vibe with beautiful estates and quiet cemeteries that feel straight out of a legend. It's a little creepy, very cool, and honestly just a great break from the city! The ridewas easy and smooth. Perfect if you want something different without it feeling like a whole mission.
1. The ride to sleepy hollow was just that by a very nice, not “tour” trained driver Anwar. 2. The “guided tour” was supposed to be guided and it was just drop off and we figure out what to do. I read the “tour” description to Anwar, he dropped us off at a grocery store and called his boss Sam. 3. Then he dropped us off at a gift shop, and we asked how to see Phillipsburg manor, well, we couldn’t it was booked by school kids, we could take a picture out back of the store , but not cross the bridge, and oh by the way, needed tickets. At the same gift shop, I asked about the cemetery and Rockefeller home. 4. We had to purchase tickets for a set time of 27 each to visit the Rockefeller estate and take their shuttle to it. Our driver would be able to get into the gates. We had about 45 min to run across the street to wonder on our own at the cemetery that was across the street from the gist shop(now official place to buy tickets). We explained the process to Anwar. He drove us to the far end and dropped us off. We ran through the cemetery looking for Irving’s grave. We thought we found it, took a picture of a plaque, and after we were back at our hotel and researched the cemetery, found out we missed the headstone. 5. The “supposed “ to be inclusive Rockefeller estate, we went on that professional tour, it was nice vis the visitor center/gift shop shuttle bus and guide. 90 minutes 6. No time downtown tour. 7. He did drive us to Irving’s home, but, we had no tickets and he had to get back to nyc to take someone to the airport. Sam should revisit his tour description! It was not guided, we missed 3 out of 4 tour items, it was not guided, it was a mess and we had to pay for the Rockefeller estate which was supposed to be included. Anwar was told just to drive to the estate, or knowing that he couldn’t and would be turned around. Also, Sam did not include drive time to and from sleeping hollow…just a 6 hour tour, so, what would he cut out? I guess 3/4 of the tour. I called Viator asking for half of our money back and to be reimbursed for the “inclusive “ Rockefeller estate. Hey, I should be paid for training his driver Anwar on the process of visiting sleeping hollow and not just dumping us here and there without a guide. It was a hot mess! And expensive to boot. I normally don’t write negative reviews, but, this was expensive, not a “ guided tour” which was advertised and we missed 3/4 of what was promised. Sam the owner receives a poke in the eye!
