Secret Lagoon natural hot springs are located in the small village called Fludir and are in the Golden Circle area. We have kept it natural and unique for our guests so they can get the true Icelandic feeling. The pool’s natural surroundings and steam rising into the air gives the place a magical feeling. The warm water stays at 38-40 Celsius all year. In the whole area there are several geothermal spots and a little Geysir which erupts every 5 minutes, showing off for the guests relaxing in the hot spring. During winter, Northern lights can often be seen in the area and what better way to experience the light show than relaxing in the warm water surrounded by the steam from the earth?
Originally built in 1891, the ‘Gamla Laugin’ as it eventually came to be known, was Iceland’s first swimming pool. For decades thereafter, Gamla Laugin was virtually abandoned until its present day owner decided to give it new life in 2005. By this time, the pool had long been forgotten and for a few years he used it as his own private heated swimming pool just for himself and a few friends, remaining a secret for several years. That is how The Secret Lagoon got its enigmatic name. A natural hot spring feeds the lagoon with 38-39°C water that bubbles up from deep within the earth at a rate of 10 litres per second, constantly replenishing itself so that there is a steady supply of fresh clean water in the pool at any given time. The Secret Lagoon offers brand new facilities next the hot spring area in Fludir. Facilities available: changing rooms, showers, resting rooms, bar and restaurant area. With the completion of changing rooms, showering facilities, outside deck, walkways and a small café, The Secret Lagoon quietly opened in the summer of 2014.

This lagoon is great if you want to get away from the tourist traps. The price is phenomenal by comparison and the pool and changing areas were perfect. We loved it so much we went twice in a row and still paid less than one visit to the other more touristy lagoons!

They will charge you extra for a towel, as a traveller nobody packs a towel in your suitcase. Price should include a towel and if you bring you own - maybe get a free drink !

We had some time as we were ahead of schedule so we got some last minute walk-in reservations on Viator. It was reasonable compared to the other big ones but it is just a very large pool with hot springs. It was nice and warm with a couple minute walking path to some smaller pools and a chill pool. They have an area to buy drinks of all types. Pro tip bring your own towels to avoid a hefty rental charge.
Very affordable, compared to Blue/Sky Lagoon. Not too crowded. Locker rooms were clean and well light.
Spent about 2 hours overall here, visiting with family. We drove in on a nice late August day. A little chill in the air, with a few sprinkles. Perfect for a dip in the lagoon. We also visited the Blue lagoon on another day. Honestly, I have better memories of the Secret lagoon. It's not quite the secret being on the Golden circle. But the place wasn't crowded compared to the Blue lagoon. The ambiance and setup feels much more natural than the blue lagoon. Much smaller setup for sure, but that makes it more 'real'. Very clean, very convenient changing rooms and showers. There's a nice walking trail along the hot springs just outside the lagoon area. Reception sells drinks, snacks, coffee and tea. Sufficient free parking outside.

We enjoyed a beautiful soak in this lovely geothermal pool. The setting was very natural. We highly recommend after a day of hiking.
The baths are beautiful and pleasant but the on-site organization is rudimentary and the reception is deplorable… I lost my wedding ring in the locker rooms and despite a phone call and two emails, I received no response. A money-grabbing operation with no consideration for the users.. There are dozens of other sites to enjoy hot baths without lining these people's pockets…
