Description
Guided tours (every hour between 9 am and 4 pm) begin with a multi-sensory 3D movie detailing the site's history, followed by a detailed look at the living museum inside the Great House, stamp collection, exhibitions, and the surrounding picturesque landscape. There is also a gift shop and restaurant on site. Since its construction more than two centuries ago, Pedro St. James was used in a variety of ways, as a cotton plantation, courthouse, jail, Government Assembly and restaurant, before the Cayman Islands government purchased the property in 1996 and restored it to its 18th-century grandeur. Today, it stands as a dynamic piece of Caymanian heritage. Best known as the “birthplace of democracy in the Cayman Islands,” Pedro St. James was the venue for a meeting on December 5, 1831, where it was decided to form the islands' first elected parliament. Later, on May 3, 1835, the proclamation ending slavery in the British Empire was read from the site.

Interesting Castle
Our tour guide, Marqis was fabulous! It was a very informative and creative tour! We thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved the home and the property! They have an excellent restaurant onsite too.

A great place to visit and very reasonably priced, thank you .
From the start to finish our guide ( Duane ) we hope we have got the name right was very knowledgeable on the historical facts and he explained it in such a way that made it easy to really have a picture in your imagination of the vast time line . We felt lucky that we had our guide totally to ourselves as it was a quiet period . We would like to thank this young man for making our experience so enjoyable.

A Must See for History Buffs
On our fourth trip to Grand Cayman, we finally toured Pedro St. James, and we are sure glad we did! Ephantus was so welcoming! The theater was super! Wilson was a fantastic tour guide! He was very knowledgeable and kind. We went on a day that wasn't too busy, and we had the theater and Wilson all to ourselves! The gift shop was FANTASTIC! I bought beautiful earrings made by a Grand Cayman artisan, along with numerous other reasonably-priced souvenirs. Every visitor curious about history should visit Pedro St. James!

Best tour and history stop of my visit to Grand Cayman
I had the BEST visit to Pedro St. James with guides Marquise and Dayshaun (please excuse if I misspelled names!). I enjoyed the pre-tour history multimedia presentation and learned a lot about the island. Marquise and Dayshaun then walked me around the property and the house to connect the presentation and history to the actual building. They also made personal connections from their experiences growing up in the community and the impact of this space and building to the island. Both their knowledge of the history of the island and their personal stories made my visit very memorable and meaningful.

Great tour!
Great tour with Wilson who was very friendly and knowledgeable - we learnt a lot! The media presentation was unavailable so we received a small gift bag as compensation which contained a rum cake, decorative turtle and a booklet on St Pedro history.
