Short 2-Day Inca Trail Hike to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate

We did the 2 day Inca Trail hike - our guide Sabi was amazing! Absolutely stunning experience. Very much worth the effort. Mother Nature did not cooperate on day 1, but it was still well worth it! Day 2 was Machu Picchu and a hike to the top of Huayna Picchu mountain. More amazing than you can imagine! Sabi accommodated everyone in our group and took very good care of us. He told so much history and was very educational.

Sabino our tour guide was extremely helpful and shared so much useful and interesting information. He carried my sister’s day pack for the whole first day of the trail when she wasn’t feeling well and supplied her with medications and natural remedies to make her feel better. He let my family and I do the trail at our own pace, making sure we stopped when we needed to rest and rehydrate. Sabi also knew all of the great photo op spots and was an excellent photographer for us. We had so much fun and would recommend!!!

We had an unforgettable amazing experience on our 2 day tour to Machu Picchu. It was physically demanding, and the weather wasn’t always great, but the reward was worth it a thousand times over. Sabi was our guide, and he handled any challenging situation with empathy and aids to improve (e.g., mild altitude sickness for one in our party). This was a big trip and we are so grateful for the awesome memories!!!

Nilton and Romario were the best guides ever. Everything was super well organized. They pickrd us up in our hotel and carried our luggage to the new hotel we were staying at after the trekking. They gave us all the useful info the day before through videocall si ce we could not make it to the in perdón meeting. It is super worth it and the guides were the best part.

We did the 2D/1N trek with Nilton and Romairo, and they were fantastic guides. They were incredibly accommodating, supportive, and attentive throughout the entire trek. We felt very well taken care of and truly appreciated how they adjusted everything to our needs. Highly recommend them!

Trip of a lifetime! We (myself and two young adult children) had a wonderful experience with Alpaca Expeditions, which we will never forget. We did the two-day Machu Pichu Inca Trail from Cusco with hotel and this seemed like the perfect way to go. It gave us one long day of hiking (with an amazing gourmet lunch) and views of Machu Pichu from above, a fun dinner and evening in Aguas Calientes (a beautiful little town), and an amazing close-up guided tour of Machu Pichu on day 2. Our guides Nilton and Romario were wonderful! Nilton was kind, informative, highly organized and tremendously fun! His knowledge of Incan culture and history (and of Peru in general) was amazing. He is the best tour guide we have ever had. Romario was super kind and helpful (and he is an amazing hiker!). They both took time to answer all questions, and to take a lot of photos, which we will cherish. I was a bit nervous about all the moving parts involved with this tour (train and bus/car rides, hotel, tickets, etc.), but our two guides made us feel at ease from the moment we started. The pre-meet the evening before the tour was very helpful. The tour schedule is rigorous and a bit exhausting, with two very early morning starts. But the early morning starts were key to getting us to Machu Pichu in time both days. We included the observatory train (recommended) and the Wyana Pichu hike on day two. The add-on hike is HIGHLY recommended but only if you are fit - it is a tough hike, but short and with breathtaking views from the top. We came into Peru just the day before, so we were worried about altitude issues. We all took Diamox and I think this made a huge difference - some mild huffing and puffing with strenuous hiking, but otherwise we were all fine. This company is top notch - they do this many times a day, every day, and have it down to a science. They track every detail, communicate well, and have wonderful guides. Highly recommended!!!

We did the Short Inca trail with two amazing guides Nilito and Denise. The tour organisation was impeccable right from the pre-tour briefing, to the early morning pickup and the train to KM106. After the initial checkin we began the to walk a steep incline for the first KM. Nilito and Denise provided sufficient interim rest points and an unlimited supply of coca leaves. They kept the group together and well motivated. Lunch was a 5 star feast and I cant believe it was cooked on a portable stove. It was traditional Peruvian food and my thanks to the porters and the chef without whom it wouldnt be possible. The rest of the hike was flat or minor incline until we reached the sun gate for the most amazing view of Machu Pichu. We then spent an hour at the viewing platform admiring the engineering skills of the Inca. The overnight hotel and dinner was amazing. The next day we did circuit 3B with Nilito who explained the history of the Incas and Machu Pichu. We loved the experience as the group size was small, the guides kept the group motivated and most importantly we managed to see Machu Pichu through the sun gate (the sun god was very kind on that day).

We had so much fun on our short inca trail. Day 1 was tough with hiking but super fulfilling and amazing views. Our tour guide Angel was understanding for when we wanted to take a break and was extremely helpful with questions. He was knowledgeable and made sure to keep us safe the entire trip! I suggest booking

Angel was absolutely amazing. He was so knowledgeable and kind. He made the group feel like a family! The food was also amazing, and accommodations were lovely as well. I would recommend Alpaca to any of my friends, especially if they have Angel as a guide!

Angel was a WONDERFUL tour guide. I am an inexperienced hiker so the Inca Trail was a big challenge for me. He really helped me out and was so patient with me. The organization was fantastic, and I loved the route we did. We got to see both circuit 1 and a detailed tour of 3, so it gave us a chance to see the classic postcard view and walk in the lower terraces to explore. Our pickup wasn’t in Cusco, and Angel was so good at organizing our meet up and arranging things for us. It was an incredible experience, 10/10 would recommend.
