Description
We will take you to 5 hours city tour in Athens starting from your cruise terminal. We will wait for you at the exit of your terminal holding a sign with your name and drive you to the city centre. We will climb up the Acropolis hill to see the famous Parthenon, temple for Goddess Athens standing above the city. The Erechthion, partialy dedicated to Poseidon and of course the monumental gateway of the Acropolis fortress. Of course will not miss the temple of the king of Gods, Zeus, and the historical 1896 Olympic stadium. Next stop will be the changing of the guard at the old Palace and then we will drive you through the city to take pictures of the beautiful neoclasic buildings and then up to the highest hill of Athens where you will enjoy an unforgettable view. Lastly follows the pride of the city, the New Acropolis Museum, where you will see closer the sculptures of the Parthenon, the finest peices of art dated in the Golden Age. Experience what Athens was and what it is today!

Itinerary
Climb up the Acropolis hill to see the famous Parthenon, temple for Goddess Athens standing above the city. The Erechthion, partialy dedicated to Poseidon, the God of the Ocean and of course the monumental gateway of the Acropolis fortress.
Of course will not miss the temple of the king of Gods, Zeus, standing as the largest temple ever built in Greece. We will drive by the imposimg columns and if you wish can even do a quick stop for a closer view.
Stop to take a picture of the historical Stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896!
We will drive you up to the highest hill of Athens, Lycabrttus hill, where you will enjoy an unforgettable view.
Next stop will be the changing of the guard at the old Palace above the central square of Athens. Witness the Evzones unit of the Greek Army guarding with discipline the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Drive by the Academy of Athens, part of the first University of Greece, standing as the most beautiful neoclassical building in the country.
We will visit the New Acropolis Museum, where you will see closer the sculptures of the Parthenon, the finest peices of art dated in the Golden Age.

We took this tour as part of our cruise on the Sun Princess. Our driver met us at the terminal exactly at the scheduled pick up time. We are not people who like to get started too early in the morning. Because this was a private tour we were able to set the start time to midmorning. Another benefit of a private tour is all the time you save that it takes to load and unload a tour bus. Our driver took us directly to the Acropolis where the guide that had been arranged for the Acropolis tour was waiting. Because there were only 3 of us we were easily able to navigate through the crowd, find out-of-the-way places to listen to the guide and carry on a conversation with the guide throughout the tour. The guide’s knowledge added a great deal of value to the tour. When we finished at the Acropolis our driver was waiting and we continued to the other sites. Our driver customized the sites we went to to meet our interests. While not a guide at the sites, the driver was able to narrate about Athens as we drove and provide information about the sites. He was professional and knowledgeable. We returned to the port as scheduled before all-aboard time. This tour made the most of our one day in Athens while accommodating our wishes.

We had an excellent tour of the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora with Eleni Maina on 5/28/24. Eleni has an expert level command of Greek history, the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora. Eleni supplemented her comments with prepared visual materials that helped explain the subject matter. Eleni speaks fluent English and she responded directly to each of our many questions. The pace of the tour was comfortable and was adjusted a bit to account for one of our party’s disability. We give Eleni our highest recommendation as a tour guide.
