Self Drive 4x4 Off Road Jeep Wrangler & Beach Chill

Such a bad operation that it was almost funny. We booked for 10 people and were promised three Jeeps online, which was confirmed by a woman at the port. Our driver was 30 minutes late. He took us to a dirt lot with two decrepit Wranglers and a hooptie Suzuki. The lot had engines and transmissions among the weeds. Only one Jeep had an open top, the A/C barely worked on the other, and not at all in the Suzuki, which the guide drove with two of our party members. And, yes, it was a very hot day. Driver stopped for 15 min. at a bodega to grab a few dirty bottles of water and a bag of ice. While going over bumps on the trails, both Jeeps kept bottoming out on the worn springs and shocks. The horn pad popped out of the steering wheel on one bump, the airbags having been long-ago sold off. The "hot oil" alarm was beeping, every warning light was lit on both Jeeps, and most of the tires were bald. Nothing like the jeeps shown in the featured photo. We stopped at a tourist shop that overlooked Megan's Bay. It was pretty, but clearly aimed at getting us to buy drinks and spend money there. We also saw a selection impoverished farms with gaunt cows chained to posts along the dirt trail. We finally limped the Jeeps back to the shuttle bus and ended up at a restaurant by the beach where the service was slow and the promise of the best food on the island was badly broken. The guide, Erik, told us we could swim there, but the rocks were slippery and almost impossible to walk on to get deep enough to swim. We walked down to a sand beach a couple hundred yards away to swim. Erik was a nice guy, but he knew that they were not giving us what we paid for. He said they did not have the money to keep up with the maintenance on the Jeeps. I'm wondering what they would have done if we had broken down--it may have meant missing the cruise ship departure time. The laughs we had were despite the broken promises by SKN Jeepers. We were pleased that we did go off road on some rough trails to a couple of pretty vistas and through a section of rain forest. Beyond that, it was a hot mess. Don't use them! They promise Jeeps and deliver hoopties.

The jeeps are very rundown, they work and will get you there but be aware every light will be on. The tour guide was very nice but there was a group in our tour that had requested 3 jeeps (group of 10 ) and us group of 3 and there were only 3 jeeps there he had 2 people ride with him they wanted to drive them self that is why they booked this tour. The drive was ok nothing too exciting to see but still pretty, my son 11 was definitely bored though. I would probably not choose to do it again .

The actual tour of the island was beautiful however, we ordered 3 jeeps and received 2 because of this 2 of our people had to ride with guide in his small car. Guide was great but we didnt get what we paid for. Would be better if each jeep had walkie talkie so we could hear guide. The beach was not really accessible we were just taken to a restaurant. No option for restroom and no one told us before. Also water was not offered until close to end and not enough. Very poor communication.

Awesome experience! Carl was a top notch tour guide and so fun! Very knowledgeable about the island and history and so fun to drive the jeeps around with! Excellent views of the island and finished our time with a couple hours chilling at the beach! Wonderful experience!

Although our driver was nice and friendly, the experience was not worth the money. The inside of the Jeep was very dirty. The air conditioner did not work well and there was no water provided to us. We had to bring our own. There was no rum punch offered to us either as stated in previous reviews. There were some pretty views during the tour, but because I went in a separate jeep with my daughters, the speaker was not working in our jeep and did not get to hear the history behind the tour at all. The driver drove separately in a different jeep than us. Overall, not worth the money.

Amazing experience, Eric was a great guide, very knowledgeable and informative,made us feel special when took us off the unbeaten track, if you like off roading or even a first timer this is definitely for you

Our family really enjoyed the tour, it wasn’t far from ship, jeeps maybe needed a little TLC, history was amazing! Great Tour! Nice restaurant for lunch! Boozies! Fabulous view!
