Secret Rioja: Exclusive Winery Access and Tasting Masterclass

We had previously done a pintxos tour with Jimi in San Sebastián and were happy to book with him again. He was once more a great guide — knowledgeable, organised and easy to spend the day with. We visited Marqués de Riscal and Baigorri, two very different but impressive wineries. The access and explanations were excellent. The highlight was the 6-course gourmet lunch paired with wine — the food and pairings were outstanding. A really enjoyable and high-quality day in Rioja. Highly recommended.

Our tour visiting Baigorri and Marqués de Riscal was a perfect contrast and an absolute highlight. Baigorri impressed us with its stunning, gravity-defying underground architecture and a deeply informative tour focused on modern, high-quality production. Their wines were elegant and precise. Marqués de Riscal offered an unforgettable visual experience with the iconic Frank Gehry-designed hotel and a journey through their rich history and vast, traditional cellars. We enjoyed savoring their classic, elegant Reserva wines. This combination beautifully showcased both the innovation and tradition of La Rioja. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely delightful day out with James, visiting the Marqués de Riscal and Baigorri wineries. It was an absolute treat learning about the beautiful Basque region with someone so passionate about all things Basque, and driving through some stunning countryside to reach the wineries! We loved the contrast of the two wineries we visited (no spoilers here - both need to be experienced in person to be appreciated), the visit to the historic hilltop fortress of Laguardia, and the short stop to Ysios for a little photo shoot from the exterior. The only gripe was the weather (the heavens opened just as we reached Laguardia!) - but the delicious wine tastings more than amply made up for that, along with the convivial conversations in the car! An amazing and memorable experience from start to finish. Many thanks James (and Jimi)!

We loved this tour! Jon and Jen were delightful local guides, taking us to two very different wineries….one very old-school and one very modern. Both experiences were well worth it! Lunch provided at Baigorri was beyond expectations.

My partner Charles and I had the best time in La Guardia. Our guide told us the history of the village and took care of us the whole time. The vineyards were very beautiful and he even took us to see the Marqués de Riscal hotel which was also very nice. He was very eager to learn about our life and very open to tell about his, so we talked a lot about cultural differences, it was really fun!! We promised to come back to some other tour.
