From Roman to Modern times, the walls have been modified and improved according to the needs of the time. However, as time went by, the walls have lost their defensive role and, as happened with the city walls of Girona, they have acquired a more symbolic and historical function. In this tour, we will walk along the remaining segments of the walls, discovering their history, the gardens that are part of them and the battles they endured. My boyfriend and I did a free tour in Girona and we got Álvaro as a guide, the best guide we could have gotten. This wall walk is very difficult to start. If you are near the cathedral climb the cathedral stairs go around the right to the back of the cathedral directly in front is a stairway with an arch go all the way up the stairs till you reach a T junction then turn left and walk to the end and then turn right climb the stairs and keep going all the way along the wall. Enjoy the scenery. There are many stairs and up slopes but it is doable and take water if it is very hot. Beautiful pic opportunities of Girona. Highly recommend

The view of the walls is beautiful, but you have to be prepared to climb the stairs and cross them! Halfway there are gardens with benches where you can take a break. But, if it's hot, it's a good idea to wear a hat and bring water!
Very much interesting. A very old city full of history. A special place to understand medieval times. The guide was very good.
