Extraordinary dive with great people!

What an amazing day!! The dive was extraordinary! The coral was amazing and the marine life was extremely diverse. One of the best dives I've ever completed. The crew from Adrenalin were amazing: knowledgeable, professional, and very friendly. The staff absolutely made the day.

Very poor diving company

Very poor organization, equipment, guidance. We are 2 Aowd Advanced Divers and we barely experienced such a poor trip - too bad, because the Yongala is an amazing dive spot. Hectic on the boat, briefing while loud engine running, no current check by the crew and there is a lot of current and just general advises where to go in case current comes from this or that direction, we were send down the rope in very strong current while another boat had there divers doing there safety stop there, very uncomfortable boat and a trip that would be better done from Alva Beach, no wetsuits only totally worn off stinger suits - even though it is cold down at 25 m. Besides, we just went diving a few days earlier up in Cairns with a 5 mm. Friendly crew - but that's about it. Price was not worth the performance. Still, the dive site is great.

Operator response

Hello Sarah, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We acknowledge your comments and appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification regarding your experience diving the SS Yongala with us. At this time of year, water temperatures are water temperatures are higher than average, approximately 28°C at the surface and 26–27°C at depth. In these conditions, most divers choose to wear stinger suits for comfort, reduced buoyancy, and protection from marine stingers. On this occasion, a crew member offered their personal wetsuit to you to ensure additional comfort for you during the dives. Dive briefings were conducted in smaller groups to enhance clarity while the vessel travelled at a reduced speed. This approach is standard practice on the longer journey to the SS Yongala, allowing all divers to receive comprehensive information without delaying arrival at the site. The briefings included dive site navigation, marine life, and all relevant safety procedures. The SS Yongala is known for its strong currents, which contribute to its unique diving conditions. The crew performed current checks while setting up the descent and mermaid lines and advised all divers—particularly those diving unguided—to remain on these lines at all times. These safety lines extend from the vessel to the top of the wreck to support controlled descents and ascents. The expected current conditions were also reiterated during final gear-up to ensure all divers were aware of the environment. We understand that your experience did not meet your expectations and will take your comments into account as we continue to review and improve our operations. Wetsuits will be made available again for this dive site in the future to ensure guest comfort across varying preferences. We appreciate your acknowledgement of the crew’s friendliness. The SS Yongala remains one of Australia’s most exceptional dive sites, and we hope that despite the challenges you were able to enjoy its remarkable marine life. For any further discussion regarding your feedback, please contact us directly at info@adrenalindive.com.au. Kind regards, The Adrenalin Snorkel & Dive Team

Another epic day out with the Adrenalin team

Mike, Rob and the team were professional as always and full of information both safety wise and with regards to the Yongala wreck. Rob had all the time in the world to answer questions and a bucket load of patience for divers of all skill levels from AOW and above. Other than always feeling that safety is an absolute priority with Adrenalin, the vessel was perfect for the day (love lounging upstairs) and the dives were mind blowing. We’ve been out here many times and have experienced some hectic current occasionally on the wreck and regularly hectic surface current. It was ripping on the surface today but once below 4 or so meters it was so calm. On the wreck itself the marine life were going nuts today. Loads and loads of large fish feeding - more than I’ve seen before on Yongala. We could easily just hover and observe in zero current. Utter blissful experience.

Operator response

Warmest regards,

Nothing extraordinary in fact, Rangiroa or Fakarava in Polynesia are significantly superior or Nassau in the Bahamas

Attention, two criteria for diving with Adrenalin from Tonwsville 14 participants mini and weather conditions. Might as well say lucky to leave for 6 hours of sailing! Force to change plans with Yongala Dive from a 40' sailing beach 22km. Diving with 15m visi and not believing in the beautiful translucent blue. Wreck isolated on a sandy background vase.Large safe fish, poor corals. The Roaima in Martinique is much prettier....

Operator response

Cordialement, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that it can be disappointing when a dive is canceled due to low participant numbers. As stated on our website and booking platform, we require a minimum number of participants and favourable weather conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, when these conditions aren’t met, we are unable to run the trip. We are glad to hear that you were able to experience the Yongala wreck with another operator. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you'll consider diving with us in the future. Best regards,
