Sanjay Colony Slum Tour

Brilliant day with Taman our guide and Davindar our driver. Covered so many areas and so many topics but Taman was very knowledgeable despite the range of subjects. The most humbling part of our tour was hands down the visit to Sanjay Colony Slum, which was very moving, thought provoking and uplifting to see real people living out their lives in challenging circumstances. The sense of community was incredible. Any preconceptions of what a slum might look like should be dropped at the door, people took pride in their appearance and their surroundings. Fantastic to see the children being taught in their English and Computing lessons, laptops donated by Amazon! Everyone living in the slum seemed relaxed we were there and we were made to feel very welcome, lots of ‘hi’s’ especially the children! Excellent experience, quick tour to local slum in Dehli with a friendly guide. Location near the metro. We saw temple, school and other interesting places inside. No problem with smell but a lot of flies there. Overall I enjoy it. Many thanks to our guide

It was a great experience and a lot was explained to us. We could ask questions at any time. We felt safe and were able to gain impressions. The organization was top-notch. We were picked up and traveled there together by train.

Having the opportunity to visit the slum was a highlight of our time in Delhi, from the smiling children to the textile workers it was a special experience. I really recommend this tour to understand the living conditions of a big proportion of Delhi’s population. Most of all we are super grateful for having felt welcomed by the people living there who let us discover their daily lives!

I would really recommend doing this tour if you are in Delhi. It gives you a great perspective on how many people are living in Delhi, and how they are trying to improve their lives. Water, jobs, healthcare and history and education in the slum area all subjects that are covered, and the guides will of course answer any questions you might have. The money from the tours go to support their education scheme inside the slum, which you get to see itself. I also appreciated the no-photo policy, which I thought was representative of the company trying to make the your ethical and respectful to the community living in the slum.
