San Blas Day Trip - Snorkeling & Island Hopping From Panama City

At first, when they picked us up, I was a little surprised by the type of vehicle. It was a private six-passenger SUV, and I initially found it a bit uncomfortable because I had expected a minivan. However, they arrived right on time and were extremely friendly. Later, I understood that the vehicles used for this trip are the type permitted by the Indigenous communities and local regulations because they need to be 4x4s. Once you see the road and all the similar vehicles traveling the same route, it makes perfect sense. As far as transportation goes, I give them a 10/10. Our driver was very experienced and drove carefully, which is extremely important because the roads are steep, winding, and can be challenging. Everyone in the Indigenous community was incredibly kind and welcoming. The boat service was excellent, and the snorkeling experience was wonderful. The boats were very clean and organized. Everywhere we went, including the islands, the facilities and bathrooms were surprisingly clean, with running water and toilet paper. The food was spectacular. We never felt that anything was limited or that we were being rushed. On the contrary, we were always treated with kindness and respect. Overall, I give this experience a 10 out of 10 — they truly earned it! I actually think this trip is worth more than what they charge considering everything that is included and the quality of the experience. I would absolutely recommend it.

An experience that went from bad to better, the trip from the city is a bit rough so if you are like me and get motion sickness easily, bring motion sickness pills... luckily we make a stop before arriving at the region and I was able to freshen up a bit 😅, from then on everything kept getting better and the island is another level of beauty.

I have been scuba diving and snorkeling all over the world, but the water clarity at Isla Perro takes your breath away. I really appreciated the professionalism of the guys from Sea San Blas: no unnecessary chatter, top-notch organization for the transfers, and maximum attention on the boat. They clearly explained to us not to touch the starfish in order to preserve them and to respect the swimming areas designated by the local community. An essential, clean, and authentic trip.

We booked as a group of four friends and splitting the costs made this paradise incredibly affordable. When you consider that the price covers the 4x4 round-trip transportation, multiple boat trips, island entrance fees, and fresh meals, it is actually much cheaper than spending a weekend at a common beach resort. Highly economical if you plan it well!

I have to say this was an amazing experience to the point I plan on going back and do the overnight tour. From pick up with Maikel to our guide and meeting / hanging out with the people of Guna Yula, my friend and I enjoyed every minute of it. Swimming in beautiful water, not so busy beaches, and a good home cooked meal, I could see myself going back more and more. The entrance fee was great (I was able to get the Panamanian rate) and the cost of items such as the dress and Molas that I bought were priced right. If you are looking for an adventure to just see beautiful culture of the Guna Yula people, enjoy some of the most amazing beaches, and just swing in a hammock in peace, this is for you. Now you have to be able to climb from pier to boat and vice versa, but other than that, just about anyone can enjoy it.

It was a great value and an amazing experience. The tour guides were very respectful during the entirety of the trip.

Carry the passport in a plastic bag in case water splashes in the boat; mine got a little wet, but everything was fine at the controls, haha. The tour was incredible, especially the snorkeling at the sunken dog boat.

We spent almost the entire day using the kayaks and paddle boards that are already included on the island. The water is so clear that you can see the fish from above the board. An excellent option if you like to stay active.

Snorkeling in the sunken ship and encountering a sea turtle was mystical. The Guna guides take great care of the fauna. A real ecotourism experience and very well coordinated 😍
