I had not gotten deep into the reservation & did not realize that the meeting place for the tour was not at the Basilica, that I needed to walk several blocks away. That info would’ve been helpful to know in the early explanations of the tour.
tl,dr: bait and switch package, bad value for money, highly random and clueless guide; tower tickets available for purchase inside. — We booked the guided tour with tower because tower tickets were not available for sale directly from the attraction. It was a significant markup, but we really wanted to go up the tower and we figured the guide would be a nice add-on. However, barely a day before the tour, the operator messaged us and said that the tower was no longer going to be available and they were going to refund us the tower portion. By that point, of course there were no other packages available during our timeslot in our tailored Barcelona itinerary, so we had no choice but to go without tower access. The morning of the tour, we got to the rendezvous point and milled around with a bunch of people until a few minutes after the designated start time (actually, one of two designated start times on the voucher which provided conflicting instructions) when one of the people suddenly came to life and said I’m your guide. Thus began a series of extraordinarily inefficient discourses on the church, the sculpture, local history, etc. - a muddling style which persisted throughout the tour. The narrative ran in circles, often inconsistently and with odd dramatic pauses that just served to confuse. Sometimes we would walk to one spot, talk about it, then walk all the way across to another spot, talk about that, then go back to the first spot and continue talking about it. So the topography of the tour was as convoluted as the narrative structure. It turns out everybody on the tour was in the same boat, and the guide said that she would tell us where to buy tickets for the tower inside - good news, but as the tour meandered physically and narratively, I decided to break away and just figure it out myself. Of course, the tower tickets were already sold out for next hour and a half. But if she had taken us to the ticket desk when we first arrived, we could’ve added the tower tickets to precisely dovetail when the tour ended, and have more or less what we had originally purchased. Instead, we had to sit in the church snoozing until the later tower access time. I can’t speak for other operators with tower options, and in hindsight I should have just bought tickets online earlier directly from the church, but if you are choosing this tour to get around sold-out tower access, then don’t - just buy them inside. Use your favorite AI to create a short walking guide inside and save the euros for some gelato.
There are two tower options. We chose the Nativity tower. You are brought up an elevator. You cross a short bridge and the rest of the tour is a descent on a spiral stair case. Your view from the bridge is of a construction site. Despite news that major construction was complete in Feb 2026, all that is left is some decor motifs...You see a small bit of architecture and a lot of netting and scaffolding. The descent is narrow. If there was anything of interest not behind a scaffold you have to view it through a sliver of a window. If you are a person who wants to ponder while looking at anything you best be at the end of your group because the space is too tight for anyone to pass you on the staircase. So underwhelming.
Church is beautiful a must see! It was a great tour that got you right in! Didnt have to wait in line! Tour guide was great and knew alot of important facts!
The tour guide Txell was excellent! Unfortunately despite having booked tower access, we received a mail the week before stating we couldn't access the towers due to logistical reasons and that we would receive a partial refund. Other groups could access the towers while we were there, so it doesn't make sense. I am still waiting for this refund and Amigo tours don't reply to messages sent via the app or email. This is very unsatisfactory customer service.
I booked the full tour including the towers. About a week before the scheduled tour they canceled my original booking moving it to later in the day and without the towers. I was promised a refund for the towers. It's been a week and I still haven't received the refund and have asked multiple times with no response. The tour itself was ok. She knew her stuff but kept the group standing in the bright sun while she held up photo copies only those in the front could see and hear about.
We had a wonderful time! We learned so much from our tour guide. Segrada Familia was absolutely stunning! The tour was so cool! Only recommendation is to bring a fan! It’s hot!
