Safari Game Drive: Dinokeng Game Reserve
Description
This experience is designed to cater to friends, family or group (double occupancy minimum) that would like to do a safari game drive without having to necessarily sleep over at the park. With a total tour duration of 7 hours from Johannesburg, Dinokeng Game Reserve is Gauteng's largest "Big Five" wildlife sanctuary, located 1 hour, 40 minutes north of Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria. A game drive session's duration is typically 2 hours and 30 minutes on the open-back 4x4 trucks driven by the resident game ranger, who will narrate fun facts about the park while navigating through the vast, dusty trails. Popular animal sightings to look forward to are hippos, elephants, rhinos, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, kudus, jackals, impalas, wildebeest, and crocodiles.

Dinokeng Game Reserve is Gauteng's largest "Big Five" wildlife sanctuary, 1 hr, 40 minutes north of Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria. The popular sunrise (5:30 am summer or 6 am winter) or sunset (4 pm summer or 3:30 pm winter) game drives are the best times to look for the Big 5. Duration is typically 2 hrs & 30 minutes on the open-back 4x4 trucks driven by game rangers, who narrate facts about the animals while navigating the terrain. Hippos, Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras, Kudus, Jackals, Impalas, Wildebeest & Crocodiles are among the popular sights to look forward to. Each truck seats a total of 10 adults, so the rangers will have more time to answer all your individual questions about the wildlife. Bottled water & snacks are provided during a mini-break halfway through the tour. Pick up & drop off in an air-conditioned sedan or minivan from your hotel in Johannesburg, Pretoria, or the O. R. Tambo International Airport.

Incredible Safari and experience. Jacob was fantastic! It was so good I booked another experience for the next day (Quad biking and Lesedi cultural village) which also blew me away. I cannot recommend enough.

An amazing afternoon safari, Jacob our guide was so welcoming and friendly. We were collected from the hotel by Jacob and taken directly to the reserve for the drive. The drive itself was fantastic we got see to so many animals and Lovemore our guide on the game drive made the most of the time we had. Our young daughter will have many memories from this tour and I would recommend this for any family looking for a game drive.
What wonderful time we had throughout that entire afternoon. Amazing wildlife sightings, from the Cheetahs you spotted that set the tone of the rest of the safari game drive. Our local site safari ranger pulled off an amazing series of wonderful wildlife findings during the sunset Game drive that we will cherish forever. We look forward to your return to South Africa.
Make sure you layer up for early morning game rides. Make sure you have warm hat and possibly a scarf to cover your face because of the wind. Our driver Luke was fantastic. We were able to see beautiful animals. Such a great experience.
We felt welcomed with helpfulness and kindness, the Service was organized with care and attention. Everything perfect, accompanied in every step. We met a really nice person who loves his job. Preferable to the big tour operators who have lost their souls.

The driver (Mr Solace) was very patient and kind. The drive was nice, but the wildlife sightings were disappointing. didn't see the big 5.
