Safari Experience - Wildlife & Steppe

Awesome experience in the Patagonian steppes. We got to see a lot of wildlife. The travel felt pretty intimate, as we were 4 plus the guide. The guide was awesome providing lots of information on the flauna and flora. The car can shake a lot, so make sure you are confortable with that, or take some meds beforehand. The lunch was delicious and enjoyable.

We booked this and had a private tour as we were the only ones that evening. Our guide, Guillermo, was on-time, knowledgeable and very personable. He was great at animal spotting (rhea, guanaco, hares, tuko tulo, condors, and a very wide variety of other birds as well. His love of the country side and pride in his home town was clear and joyful to be part of. We saw an ancient burial site and had wine, appetizers and dinner at the Estancia 25 de Mayo all with a warm and cozy fire. If you would Ike to see the steppes and something beyond the national park, I highly recommend this tour.

Our safari with Patagonia Profunda was one of the true highlights of our trip to El Calafate, and much of that was thanks to our fantastic guide, Fede. We headed out in a Land Defender 4x4 deep into a vast estancia, where we saw huge numbers of guanacos roaming freely across the landscape. At times it really felt like a safari, watching herds move across the hills while Fede shared stories about the region’s wildlife, geology, and history, making everything we saw far more meaningful. One of the most fascinating stops was an area filled with fossilized shells and marine remains from when this region lay underwater millions of years ago. Standing there and imagining that transformation was unforgettable. Along the way, Fede surprised us with a wonderful picada, and later we enjoyed a warm, homemade meal in a house on the property, making the whole experience feel personal and welcoming rather than touristic. I went with my wife Carissa and our 13-year-old son Tavio, and we all agreed this was one of those experiences you keep talking about long after the trip ends. Fede’s warmth and genuine love for Patagonia made the day special. Patagonia Profunda delivers an experience that feels both adventurous and deeply human. We highly recommend it.

My two kids and I had a wonderful experience on this tour with our guides Frederico and Nacho. We enjoyed the off roading opportunity to see deeper into El Calafate and the casual pace that allowed for stops to photograph animals and drink maté. The highlight was the delicious lunch served at the estancia. A truly special experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting El Calafate.

This was spectacular. We saw guanacos, rheas, and Andean Condors. Our guide (Augustino) was entertaining and knowledgeable. Lunch was very, very good. Could not recommend this now highly.

Outstanding safari! Federico was excellent and he gave wonderful information. Loved seeing the herds of guanacos, as well as many other animals and birds. Lovely lunch, Malbec and maté. Excursion just as described. Highly recommend!

Very helpful guide, we were a mixed group of spanish and english speakers and our guide was great. Really enjoyed seeing all the Guanacos and Condors. Excellent lunch at the old Ranch house.

It was an eye opening tour with sighting of unique wildlife and birds. The dinner at the old farm house was very unique, homely and excellent home cooking.
