Description
One of the most enchanting places in our wonderful Italy, the Royal Palace of Caserta has nothing to envy to the Venaria Reale of Turin or to other European royal residences. Luigi Vanvitelli's masterpiece, compared in beauty to the "French sister" of Versailles, is always exciting to visit, with the majestic Royal Park, the English Garden and the wonderful Bourbon rooms open to the public.

Breathtaking palace and grounds—just skip the café
Breathtaking palace and grounds—just skip the café
Reggia di Caserta is an extraordinary place to visit. The royal apartments are magnificent, and I highly recommend picking up an audio guide to fully appreciate the history and detail inside. The gardens and monumental fountains are simply massive—make sure you wear comfortable, sturdy walking shoes, as you’ll be covering a lot of ground. One major drawback: steer clear of the on-site café. The staff there were rude, dismissive, and utterly unhelpful. Aside from the café experience, the palace and grounds are well worth the trip.

Great
The palace is awesome. Definitely buy the access to see royal apartments as well. The garden was under construction (most part of bridges, fountains and waterfalls), but you still can have a good stroll in the garden and walk to hidden waterfall with small lake. Very clean, lots of walking, many different rooms with awesome paintings on ceilings. Plan at least 3-4 hours; they have washroom on site.

complaints about the ticket office
There's nothing to do on the palace but bow.
but is it possible that on a Sunday there are only 2 ticket stations open?
We all know there is online lo but there is no justification for such a lack!

A FANTASTIC DAY TRIP FROM NAPLES.
The Royal Palace of Caserta is located in Campania, Italia 55 mins by train from Naples. Movies that were filmed here - Angles & Demons. Mission Impossible 111. Star Wars 1 . The two Popes & Conclave. After visiting today we know why. It’s magnificent.
This Palace was constructed by the House of Bourbon-The Kings of Naples & Sicily as their main residence as Kings of Naples. Construction started in 1752 by King Charles 111. The Palace is the largest erected in Europe during the 18th Century.
In 1997 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Spend the whole day here as visiting both the palace and gardens will take all day. In between seeing the palace & gardens have lunch at S Lucia Pizzeria Trattoria in the town. It’s a excellent Trattoria. We are there at the end of our visit. You can easily buy tickets at the door for € 18 each.
If you come to Italy it’s a must see.

Impressive palace and gardens worth a visit.
Wow. The palace is amazing. We hired a guide, and I’m glad we did. It’s room after room of art and architecture. Without someone there to provide context and history it might not have the same impact.
We went in July, it was obscenely hot, but crowds were manageable. There’s a cafeteria onsight as well as on the grounds. Prices were reasonable for a touristy place.
After visiting the palace, the grounds are available to explore on foot, bike, or by shuttle bus to the far end of the gardens. Private golf carts are available for more custom tours - but no, you can’t drive them yourself.
The gardens and water features are impressive. Wear good walking shoes.
I’d wager that the palace isn’t on most tourists’ itineraries, but if you’ve got a little extra time, it was worth checking out. It’s a relatively easy and inexpensive trip from Naples.
Sidenote: a scene from the Star Wars franchise was shot in the palace.

Gorgeous gardens
This is a stunning place with amazing grounds and gardens! Unfortunately, the inside was closed, however, the gardens are lovely, and it’s also nice to pay 10 Euros per person for a golf cart to take your party up and down the hill to see all the gardens without having to walk uphill in the heat.

The Royal Disappointment
This Palace is run down and has low maintenance. For something that cost quite a bit to see, I was astonished at how the city “prizes” their beloved history.
The tapestries are absolutely filthy and not cared for.
The paintings have such bad corrosion from years of abuse.
The floor is weak and bouncy from mold as well as mold and leakage in the plastored ceilings.
The stone, cracks and is left to fall and continues to crumble apart.
Statues have dust caking their surface and you’re left wondering if it's even marble at all.
I could keep going on and on about how just awful it was. I’m irritated about the money wasted when I could have used it to explore other palaces in smaller areas that are well cared for ans their paintings are definitely loved.
This place is a money grab for the city.

Lovely Site in Naples - Interesting and Educational
I spent 3 days in Naples with a friend. During our time in Naples, we visited this palace. Quite an experience - beautiful and educational. The ticket price was reasonable. Really worth a visit if you are in Naples.

Royal Splendor
Full with envy towards his French Cousin, Carlo di Burbone ordered his architect, Vanvitelli, to build him a Palace “better than Versaille”. And he got it, Versaille looks like a poor cousin compared to this beauty. There are tons of info you can easily find about this Palace on the Web, so I’ll concentrate on practicalities: We arrived without reservation or pre-booked tickets in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday. No problem getting tickets, if you pay the full price (€15). Knowing that we did not have much time, we wanted to see only the Royal Apartments, but for that we had to wait 3 hours. So, we paid full price and saw only what we wanted. Not very crowded, a few groups and very few individual visitors. Parking is available on site, €2. there is an audio guide, but all the info is also posted by every exhibit, in Italian and English. Special section covering the construction of the Palace and its architect, including an interesting video. All in all, plan to spend half day if you want to see it all. The Royal apartments only take about 3 hours. All this marble, gold and mirrors, very impressive

Great tour
Our guide was excellent. We were in a private tour for 2 people and we learned so much and got to enjoy the palace as well as the gardens. Great experience!
