Description

Greenwich is one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of London but is mostly forgotten by most tourists which is a shame as most Londoners would tell you; it is the place to go to. Greenwich lies to the east of the city and is well worth spending a day at for anyone visiting London.  Whether it is visiting the market to grab some tasty street food or bohemian clothing or visiting one of the many world famous tourist attractions, you really should book this tour.

Canceled almost as soon as we booked it

The tour was canceled without explanation. I sent a follow-up email which was never responded to. Very disappointing in every respect.

Operator response

Dear Rich, I've never accepted or cancelled any booking with you. I've not even had a single email from anyone about Greenwich this year. All my tour bookings are manually accepted or rejected. Furthermore the local DLR Underground station has been advertised that it will be closed for much of the year due to engineering works so I have not accepted any bookings. This review is libellous, false and malicious in every way and should be removed.

Perfect tour on a chaotic day

Stephen made an absolutely perfect day out of the chaos following the sad death of Queen Elizabeth II. I landed at London's Heathrow Airport on Friday, September 9 and was met by Stephen at the Hyatt Regency - The Churchill hotel. Stephen was great as my arrival at the airport was delayed unexpectedly at the airport but he still met me in the lobby and was ready to go, despite my unfortunate tardiness. If the Queen's passing altered any of Stephen's plans then I was none the wiser as I had an absolutely perfect day in Greenwich! We started witha a taxi ride to the area around Big Ben and walked to the Thames for a river cruise to Greenwich. This was my second time in London (and third time with Ye Olde England Tours) but Stephen still made the experience in London seem new & fresh. We visited the Cutty Sark and Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College but a particular highlight was signing a condolence book for the Queen at the Royal Chapel. Another personal highlight was seeing the Prime Meridian line at the Royal Observatory. After a full day of siteseeing we ventured back to my hotel via a taxi from Greenwich. Stephen was apologetic about how the historical events may have led to some confusion, perhaps closures, and such - all totally unavoidable by the Royal tragedy, but in my eyes everything went off perfectly as I had hoped and could envision. The day was an absolutely lifelong memorable experience made during a historic period of English history and with an absolutely wonderful tour guide.

Hi Brock! thanks so much for your fantastic review. I'm so glad that you both enjoyed yourselves despite the once in a life-time sad events that were taking place. It is always lovely to see you and show you round different parts of London... especially as there is so much to see. I really, really appreciate your whole-hearted review on a day that history was being made. Also even though I have been on the TV and Radio quite a bit, I won't ever forget going on the doing the Boston breakfast radio show and being a 'Royal correspondent' as we sailed down the Thames. Thankyou again - Stephen

Greenwhich day tour

This tour took us out of the heart of the city and gave us our best views of our entire stay. Stephen took us to areas that were lightly populated by tourists and are obviously hidden gems. The Painted Hall was gorgeous, the ship Cutty Sark was a great start to the day and one which families with children would greatly enjoy, and the views from the Royal Observatory were absolutely stunning. Stephen was very flexible and gave us options for how the day could play out. We choose a path that ended with us in Greenwich village for shopping and dining after the tour was over. If looking for a London tour with incredible views and outside of the major tourist hot spots this is the one for you.

Half day tour, Greenwich

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour (with Stephen) and weeks later are still recalling some highlights as we tell friends and family about it. It does seem like a lot of money when you book, but if you only have one chance to visit, then going on this tour will make it much more memorable than finding your own way around. Our guide,Stephen, was great company who enjoyed sharing his in-depth knowledge of the area, ships, Nelson and all! We visited during the winter months which meant nothing was too busy; I expect it's very different in the Summer. There are some tours run by the tourist information centre, which may be worth finding out about too.

Thank-you for your lovely review Julie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your tour. I always think it is nice to visit these places in winter because as you say, it is so much less busy. But Greenwich is a lovely place to visit at any time of the year. Thank-you again for picking us at Ye Olde England Tours
