Lovely experience learning about the gardens, history of Melbourne, and aboriginal heritage. I especially appreciated learning about the medicinal, health and culinary benefits of the trees and plants. The guide was both knowledgeable and passionate. Added benefit: lunch was surprisingly high quality for a cafe that caters to tourists.
Fantastic tour. Didn't know there were many native edible plants in Australia. Sherry our guide is a great storyteller, and shared a lot of information about the First Peoples heritage and culture.
Excedllent tour in which we learned a lot about aboriginal history and life in general as well as the role of plants in their culture. And it weas fun!
This was a highlight of our entire Melbourne trip. We nibbled our way round the gardens (had not expected that part!) guided by the incredible Aunty Sherry who was so generous sharing her knowledge and history. Utterly enthralling and very moving - a really outstanding experience. Don't hesitate - get it booked. Incidentally, I had wondered if the gardens would be worth seeing in the middle of winter (we were there in August). They most definitely are. We had a very nice lunch at the Observatory after the tour (much nicer than such cafes often are) and then walked ourselves to exhaustion for the rest of the afternoon. The Arid Garden, the Fern Gully and the ornamental lakes were particularly glorious

It was very meaningful to experience the scent and taste of the plants in the Botanic Gardens and to learn about the connection between Aboriginal people and their lives. It's a waste to just walk around without going on tour. It was in English, but I think you can enjoy it enough if you know what it means.
