I had a great experience from beginning to end. The Pantheon was even more impressive than I imagined, especially the dome and the oculus. Our guide shared the history, architecture, and little-known facts in a clear and engaging way, making the visit more meaningful. I enjoyed learning how this ancient building has lasted for almost 2,000 years and how its use has changed over time. The tour was well organized, informative, and fun. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.
So... get why they charge, but it's a little over-priced - was free, but now around €10-12. We pre-booked the day before with GYG and the meeting point for tickets was just outside. You won't need to spend much more than 30 mins inside I reckon. It's amazing through - construction, history - read up before you visit as that will help you understand what you are seeing! The centre is coned off which is good as it stops ppl clogging the space. Lots of history to take in, don't just turn up! Pre-book line is short (even in August).
We used the audio guide, consider bringing headphones to hear because it's very crowded.
Since the visit was scheduled during a heatwave, we tried to reschedule our visit a little earlier in the day. We had the tickets, I should point out that at that moment there was no one asking to enter.. Flat refusal. We therefore lost our tickets. No understanding on their part.
Note that you do need to pick up your tickets from a separate office with friendly associates, that is a short walk away from the site, so give yourself extra time. Entry time is actually active for an hour, and there were more time slots available via Viator than the actual website. The pre-purchase line was much shorter than the pay onsite. You will pick up your audio guide inside the Pantheon, and they will need an ID for collateral. The Pantheon itself is well worth a stop.
Be forewarned on this one - they will tell you to preprint your tickets, but there is teeny tiny print that tells you that these NOT actually your tickets. You have to go find some office a few blocks away to exchange what you printed for a ticket. We waited in line for 20 minutes in 95 degree heat only to find out that we couldn't get in with said printed tickets. It took an hour to figure out where to go and how to get the real tickets. I'm sure it's beautiful inside but we were so frazzled by the experience that it was hard to enjoy, sadly.
Instructions are a little confusing and headsets aren’t great but compared to our other tour today, which was hideous, this was fine. We thought the stories in the audio were okay. The Pantheon was great.
Brilliant and easy to follow instructions.
This was a great budget-friendly option for visiting the Pantheon. Although I expected the skip-the-line experience selected and still had to wait in line, the self-guided audio tour was easy to use and let me explore at my own pace. While a live guide can provide more context and answer questions, I felt I received exactly what I paid for. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a flexible, affordable way to experience the Pantheon.
Quick access by booking on the site, despite the line under the sun!
