If you are even a little into the history of London rock and roll you will really like this tour. If you are REALLY into the history of London rock and roll you will absolutely love this tour. My wife and I had an amazing time with Steve! He is very communicative up front, and tailored our tour to our respective tastes, and even changed things up on the fly upon request if he could. I can't say enough good things about him. He was a wealth of knowledge, fun, kind, and everything you would want in a guide for a tour like this. My girlfriend and I booked a private music tour with Steve several months in advance, and it turned out to be one of the absolute highlights of our time in London. From the time we booked, Steve stayed in touch with us to confirm the details and make sure everything was set. On the day of the tour, he arrived right on time, was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, and came extremely well prepared. It became obvious very quickly that music and its history aren’t simply subjects Steve knows about—they’re a genuine passion of his. Steve immediately noticed our Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones shirts and began asking about our individual music tastes. Rather than following a set itinerary, he tailored the tour to our interests as we went. When he realized how much we liked Pink Floyd, he adjusted the route to include Battersea Power Station, famous from the cover of Animals. Since it was a little farther out of the way, he made it our first stop and then planned the rest of the route back through London. That willingness to adapt the tour to us continued throughout the day. One of the things that really set Steve’s tour apart was how prepared he was. He brought laminated historical photographs, videos, notes and plenty of stories. At many of the locations, he showed us photographs of the musicians standing in the exact places where we were now standing, often lining up the old photograph with the buildings and streets behind it. Seeing the past and present together really brought the history to life. We covered an incredible amount of music history, visiting places connected with Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury and others. We saw the former Marquee Club, The Ship, Paul McCartney’s home, Jimmy Page’s home, Freddie Mercury’s former home, Abbey Road and the location of The Beatles’ famous rooftop performance. As we traveled between stops, Steve continued pointing out interesting locations and homes associated with other well-known people, including Adele and David Beckham. Abbey Road was especially memorable. Steve knew exactly where to go and how to get the photographs we wanted. He even parked his black cab in the same spot where the police vehicle appears in the historic Abbey Road photos so we could recreate the scene. He also came prepared with Sharpies so we could sign the wall. Those little details showed his experience and how much thought he puts into making the tour memorable. Steve was also fantastic about taking photos of the two of us throughout the day. He knew the locations, where to position us and which angles worked best. Our pictures came out extremely well, and we ended up with some wonderful photos of the two of us together that we’ll be able to look back on for years. Another thing that stood out was Steve’s relationship with the people and places along the route. He knew staff at various stops and made sure we were welcomed and treated well. It gave the experience a personal feel that you simply wouldn’t get by visiting these locations on your own. Most importantly, Steve was just a pleasure to spend the day with. He is extremely knowledgeable without ever making the tour feel like a lecture. He listened to what interested us, answered our questions, shared great stories and genuinely seemed to enjoy talking about the music as much as we did. By the end of the tour, it felt less like we’d spent the day with a tour guide and more like we’d been riding around London with an old friend talking about music. We would highly recommend Steve to anyone interested in British rock and music history. His knowledge, preparation, flexibility and personal approach made the experience exceptional from beginning to end. If you want more than just a sightseeing tour and instead want to truly experience the stories behind the music in a way that feels personal, immersive and unforgettable, Steve is exactly the person to do it with.

If you are any kind of fan of British music you MUST book this tour with Steve! Honestly, it was one of the greatest vacation days I have ever had. He spent years in record promotions and has now been running this tour for over a decade, so the the things he knows and the stories he has to share are unbelievable. I literally could spend a week with Steve just listening to him! Be sure to book at least 4 hours, because I promise that any less will simply not be enough time.

The Rock Cab Tour was an amazing experience! It was a personalized tour, and Steve was able to research an obscure musician that my husband is a fan of. His knowledge of rock history is encyclopedic. He had both laminated photos to re-create, plus tablet photos. He was able to deal well with my mobility issues, too. This is a must-do for any rock music fan!

This is a great tour for anyone who is a fan of the British music scene as it relates to the city of London. From the Beatles and Rolling Stones to the Clash and Amy Winehouse guide Steve knows his history and provides some great background stories that you won't hear anywhere else. Many sites along the route where some luminaries still live, did live, or played music at. Highly recommend!
