And by the end of this 1-2 hour cycling tour, you’ll have gained a comprehensive view of Lisbon’s historical and cultural evolution. So, hop on your bike or scooter, put on your headphones, and prepare to be transported to a bygone era on this one-of-a-kind audio adventure! *You will need to supply your own bike/scooter (available from €2-20/day from Gira, Bolt/Byrd/Lime or a local rental company).

Itinerary
You will begin your tour using your Voicemap App here at the river viewpoint looking out at the Cais dos Colunas. Be sure to have rented your bicycle/scooter already and have your headphones ready! Once you start the tour, listen carefully for instructions and then follow the directions to the next point of interest!
Alfama
Next, you will head to Largo Jose Saramago on the edge of the old city of Alfama where you will spend some time learning about Lisbon's early history by the ancient Roman stairs, which are over 2000 years old!
Casa dos Bicos-Museu de Lisboa
Head to Casa dos Bicos, the house of points which was once covered in jewels and now contains the Lisbon Museum and the Jose Saramago foundation.
Praca Do Comercio
Next, to the grand commercial center of Lisbon to hear the story of the single most important event in Lisbon's history: the earthquake of 1755.
Now, we're following the riverside bike path through this historic dock district, past the train station and along the water to the bridge!
Docas de Santo Amaro
Past the riverside bars and restaurants and to the bridge, this trendy neighborhood on the edge of Alcantara is a great place to stop and enjoy the river and bridge views.
MAAT - Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia
We pass by the visually-stunning MAAT with its rooftop terrace if you want to stop for a gorgeous view of the river.

Torre de Belem
And still following the river, we arrive at the Tower of Belem, once a fortress and prison where you will hear the fascinating (and true!) story of the Rhino and the King.
You will have time at the end of the tour to enjoy one of these delicious treats, but on this stop you will hear the story behind the famous egg tart and the monks who came up with the secret recipe!
Our final stop of the tour where you learn about the important final resting place of some of Portugal's most famous historical figures. Admission is free and you can head inside once your tour is over!
Jeronimos Monastery
Our final stop of the tour, the UNESCO world heritage site and former home of the Order of the Hieronymites. You can hear the story of the final landing place where sailors and adventurers would be blessed before heading across unknown seas. Stop to enjoy the beautiful architecture from the outside or purchase a ticket to go in to the cloisters once the tour is over.

So good, it's worth repeating on a sunny day
What a perfect way to experience a mystical, magical afternoon in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! The storytelling flow was excellent, as were the directions. I'm actually looking forward to doing it again, I can't get enough of this experience.

Perfect Day in Lisbon
What a perfect way to spend a sunny day in Lisbon! Everything about the tour was spot on. Riding along the river, learning about the history of the city, all guided by an engaging storyteller. And the directions, wow! It makes you feel so well taken care of. Cannot recommend enough.

Perfect Tour on a great sunny afternoon!
What a cool experience! Me and my friend did the tour on a Friday afternoon using scooters. Even though I know Lisbon already a bit, I learned a lot and it was most of all just a very fun way to explore the city! Oh and I loved that it ends in Belem, so you can explore there as well. We found a very cute restaurant there to have some food after the tour. And Pasteis, of course ;) PS: Its amazing how the GPS knows where you are and the voice will always tell you (please turn right here at the crossing after the read sign etc." - VERY accurate!)

A flexible and immersive way to discover the city
I absolutely loved the bike tour to Belém and can say I’ve discovered my new favorite way to explore a city! It's the perfect blend of flexibility and immersion. Going at my own pace made it easier for me to actually learn a lot about Lisbon's rich history and culture! The storytelling was vivid and engaging, I especially loved the different voices that brought the city's stories to life. An experience I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Lisbon!
