Rio Secreto is the longest semi- flooded cave in the Yucatan Peninsula. We have 90 hectares of land of which by our conservation programs, we use only 10% for tourism purposes. For your safety, we only manage small groups.

Exceptional tour and outstanding staff
We did the salty and sweet tour which includes first magnificent snorkeling in Puerto Morelos (although we had to wait 45 minutes for the boat to arrive) and then they take you to Río Secreto. There Gisell was our guide, who took us along the El Palacio route inside the cave (there are 5 different routes), which was magnificent. The water was cool but not as much as I expected (I am very sensitive to cold) although you definitely have to put on the wetsuit. The cave is spectacular and the explanations very good. The buffet food could be improved, to be honest, as there is very little variety. The staff is extremely friendly. My daughter left her mobile phone behind in one of the vans and the next day they were kind enough to bring it to us at the hotel. I am very grateful to them. Certainly, a tour to repeat.

How to destroy an experience
The cave is interesting. The guide - Fernando- was knowledgeable and engaging. The overall experience is dissapointing because of the way they choose to treat the customers. The first thing the guide.will tell you is that you cannot take ANY photos. I can understand this approach to an extent and I think it should be communicated clearly on the booking page. However, not even a picture outside of the cave, is unreasonable. Then the unethical part reveals itself at the end of the tour when they ask $35 per photo or $140 for the "package". This is a total rip-off and in my opinion speaks volumes about how this company choses to operate : people = dollars so exploting them is their only value. The buffet they offer is a disgrace to Mexican food. The worst meal I had in 18 days in Quintana Roo. The service and presentation match the food quality.

The experience is really great! Gisele, our tour guide was great! She answered all of our questions in a friendly way. I recommend everyone to do this activity.

Impressive tour, but more of an event than a nature experience
Impressive tour through the cave with a very nice and funny guide. We felt well taken care of and never felt unsafe at any time. The actual tour through the cave lasts a good 1.5-2 hours, and the path is absolutely manageable if you don't have any major physical limitations; the water is also not so deep in most places that you can't stand (plus you are wearing a life jacket), but I would still recommend the tour less to non-swimmers. All the equipment is provided; you only need your own swimwear. A wetsuit is optional; we didn't need one and weren't cold. Small, bland aftertaste: personally, I would have preferred a bit more narrated information about the cave rather than the countless, partly staged photos (someone walks along the whole time with a DSLR camera) that are taken during the entire tour. If you want to have these after the tour, you have to dig very deep into your pockets (35 USD/photo, or approx. 135 USD for all photos). In general, the whole tour is designed more as an event than a nature experience. You should be aware of that beforehand! The food was delicious, but unfortunately cold. All in all, the tour was a little bit too expensive for me.

Great excursion, bad taste at the end
Was an amazing experience but left with a very bad taste. You're not allowed to bring cameras but then they sell you each digital Pic for $35 or all for $160. WTF??? If is was $50 for all - no dought I would have paid and the place would have made so much more money! Now we have no souvenier
