This self-guided, shared shuttle tour will take you to both the 7 Rila Lakes area in the morning and then in the afternoon to the UNESCO Rila Monastery in the Rila National park - Bulgaria's most famous natural and cultural sites. In the morning the shuttle bus tour bus will take you to the start of the hiking routes ar the Rila Lakes area and base station of the chair lift from where you can take the chair-lift up in the mountain. You have more than 5 hours for your self-guided tour of the Rila Lakes area. After that in the afternoon the shared shuttle will take you to the Rila Monastery - Bulgaria's most visited cultural and historical site. You have more than 1 hour to explore the monastery site on your own.

This tour is absolute worth every penny, it’s a whole day tour (from 7 am to 8 pm) but it’s gives you the opportunity to enjoy each location at your own pace. I’m glad I joined this tour and visited such beautiful areas! The hike throughout the lakes can be challenging if you are out of shape, but reaching the peak it’s a reward itself with the amazing views!
It is a very good excursion to do something different. Philip, the guide, was very friendly and attentive. All the instructions are very clear. The 7 Lakes route is not easy, since the path is full of rocks. But it is worth it for the views. The monastery was very beautiful and different.
This tour is incredibly efficient - for the price, you get a full day of activities, breathtaking views, and comfortable transportation. The guide was excellent, explained everything in detail, and provided us with a useful map. One important tip for future travellers: take the departure times seriously! The bus leaves on time, and apparently on almost every tour someone misses it and has to make their own way back. So keep an eye on the time and don’t rely on the bus waiting for you. Overall, highly recommended - great experience and excellent value for money.
Simply the best Simply the best
Amazing trip! It says it is self guided but doesn’t feel that way because the guide provides maps, commentary and a brilliant WhatsApp update system. The walk is well marked. It does take some exertion but no scrambling and footing is fine both up and down. The monastery is also beautiful.
All the information was so clear: The information itself and the way it was provided to us! The guide send us photos of the meeting points and we had at the lakes and at the monestry the exact time that we needed!
One of the best tours I have ever taken, breathtaking landscapes that are absolutely worth seeing, but above all I must thank our guide Philip who does his job impeccably, with unique kindness and helpfulness. Thank you!!
