You will be picked up in Madrid at 9:15am and depart towards Ribera del Duero. The Duero river, also known as the river of wine, is about 2 hours from Madrid and it is the home of tempranillo, the most famous Spanish grape variety (red wines with full body and lots of fruit).
This tour will bring you an exceptional experience, blending new and old wine making techniques, vineyards growing in extreme weather conditions, and the work of families who have converted this great region into one of the most popular red wine regions in the world. Let us accompany you among landscapes of contrasting colors, wines full of taste and aromas, traditional cuisine, and the exceptional heritage that is still preserved in the wine region of Ribera del Duero.
You will do a full visit in the first winery, learning about winemaking in Ribera (riverside in Spanish), and understanding tempranillo wine from the grape to the bottle. First stop will be one of the most representative wineries in the region, where you will taste the freshness and elegance of their aged wines, feeling the extraordinary complexity of this land. Please note that this itinerary is an example only and may be subject to change.
Second Winery: The second winery we visit is in harmonious modernity with the environment; it is open to the vineyards. This link between the interior and the exterior is a statement of the necessary functionality of spaces, nature and history. Everything stands up as a new concept of wine. We always select wineries that are different, mixing tradition and modernity, to get a broad understanding of one of the most famous wine regions in the world. Every stop will bring a surprise and you will learn about traditional wine making, modern architecture and limited productions that make special wines. Please note that this itinerary is an example only and may be subject to change.
There will be free time to have lunch at your own choice (lunch is not included in tour price: we do not impose a menu). You can lunch in a traditional restaurant with several options of Castilian regional food ranging from tapas, a light lunch or a full 3-course lunch (approx. budget: tapas 12/15€, full 3-course 30€). Please note that this itinerary is an example only and may be subject to change.
Third winery: a medieval underground cellar, with a total length of about 4 mi and excavated about 40 ft deep (networks of incredible tunnels that run through the subsoil of the city and are intended for the preservation of wines that have been made since the Middle Age). Here, we will learn part of the history of the Ribera del Duero. Please note that this itinerary is an example only and may be subject to change. Note that the order of the wineries and locations change depending on the day.
After the scenic stops, all that remains is to relax and enjoy the return to Madrid. The arrival will take place around 20h. The Ribera del Duero Wine Tour from Madrid, ends at the original meeting point.
End of the tour: get back to Madrid with the memory full of great flavors and wonderful experiences. The duration of the tour is between 10 to 11 hours depending on the traffic in Madrid.

This is a great tour. Enrique, our tour guide, was incredible. He’s like a wine wikipedia. He brought us to three very different but amazing wineries— one was artesanal, the other a big producer and the third one was one of the five oldest wineries in Ribera del Duero. Each tasting we had was superb. I highly recommend this tour. I would book it again in a heartbeat.
We love that you describe Enrique as a walking wike wikipedia, he certainly is! A great excursion! Enrique is a wonderful guide. He told us so many things and it was clear that he knew a lot about the subject. He is super friendly and invites everyone to participate. A 10/10! The day is super well-organized, with 3 visits but all different. We learned so much about the area and the wine! At lunchtime, we stopped in Aranda de Duero and the whole group went to eat together with Enrique. He took us to a very local restaurant and we tried the dishes based on his recommendation!
