The museum gives you a factual insight into the world of prostitution via an audio tour, narrated by a Russian sex worker living in Amsterdam. The tour ended with a wall of sex confessions from previous visitors to the museum, some of which were quite disturbing. We paid £25 for 2 tickets.
Dear Robin, Thank you for your thoughtful review and for sharing your experience. We are happy to hear that you found the museum informative and that the audio tour gave you an interesting and factual insight into the world of prostitution in Amsterdam. We also appreciate you mentioning the visitor confessions and hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit. Kind regards
This is not a sleazy place despite being in the Red Light district. It starts with a short film of a skimpily dressed dancer moving around but you are given a guide on a lanyard to point at various places on the walls to hear stories of former prostitutes. There is also a multiple choice quiz about facts on prostitution that definitely surprise (and shock) you. They have a gift shop at the end of the trip in the shop and you can also pose at a window then buy your prints in the gift shop.
Dear Maggie, Thank you for the kind review. We’re happy to hear you found the museum interesting and appreciated that it offers a thoughtful look at life in the Red Light District. We hope you enjoyed discovering the stories behind the windows and had a memorable visit to Amsterdam! Kind regards
Very thoughtful museum, informing well about life behind the windows as well as the risky. It is a small museum so you are fairly fast through.
Dear guest, Thank you for the thoughtful review. We’re glad to hear you found the museum thought-provoking and informative, especially the stories about life behind the windows and the risks involved. We hope your visit gave you a better understanding of this unique part of Amsterdam. Kind regards
The narrative in the audios was the most fascinating part of the visit! Real stories and real language. Don't miss the tablets with the questions. You discover many "secrets" there! Thank you Ioanna for welcoming us and guiding us through the process!
Dear guest, Thank you for the kind review. We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the audio stories and found the real experiences and personal stories fascinating. We hope the visit gave you an interesting and honest look into a world that many people know little about. Kind regards
This is a museum in an old brothel and it’s well worth visiting! It’s new, so there are some flaws, but overall, it’s terrific. You actually visit rooms that were once used as well as plenty of artifacts: items left behind, sex toys, a sling, etc. There’s a small tribute of women who have passed away as well. The last room is a shop, but no one was there when I entered the room and I had to return the audio guide to the front when I’d gone out the exit door, but overall, it was a definite must-see. This is an important part of their history and as important as the marvelous Erotic Museum down the street!
Dear Steven, Thank you for the thoughtful review. We’re happy to hear you found the museum worth visiting and enjoyed exploring this historic building. We also appreciate your feedback. We hope you had an interesting visit! Kind regards
Very interesting to learn about the red light district! Recommend going to see while in Amsterdam.
Dear Gemma, Thank you for the kind review. We’re happy to hear you found the museum interesting and would recommend a visit while in Amsterdam. We hope you enjoyed learning more about the Red Light District and discovering some of its history and stories. Kind regards
We thought this was interesting and quirky. The audio story from Ing was good to add colour to each room. Took us about 20mins to go through. My youngest child was 16 and it was probably a bit much for her, but the rest of us found it really interesting.
Dear Deborah, Thank you for the nice review. We’re happy to hear you found the museum both interesting and informative, and that you enjoyed Ing’s audio story. We hope the personal stories added something special to your visit and gave you a better look behind the scenes. Kind regards
Pepe was marvelous. Very friendly.
Dear guest, Thank you for the kind review. We’re so happy to hear that Pepe made your visit even more enjoyable with his friendly service. We’ll be sure to share your lovely words with him. We hope you had a memorable experience and visit us again! Kind regards
There was some interesting information gained through this museum. However, it was kinda small and super quick to get through. It also didn’t feel like there was much to actually look at. It was mainly just listening to the audio.
The tour is not about the history of the red light district but about how to be a prostitute and serving clients in different ways. The audio was very graphic and the advertisement is misleading. I am requesting a refund. I would not have selected this excursion as it was misleading.
