We start to get ready for the tour, we offer both rain clothing and winter overalls, and then we find the perfect match of a horse for you.
Travelers will see lava hills, history of the volcano which is 5000 years old.
At Rauðavatn, the first steps of forestry in Iceland were taken at the beginning of the 20th century
Our Amazing most popular! We ride in small groups and offer personal and friendly service! This tour is about 5-7 km, depending on the experience of the riders. It is suitable for beginners and for those with more experience as we can choose between routes in the area. We will either ride on a beautiful and smooth riding path along the Redhills or, for a group of more experienced riders, we will ride by Rauðarvatn. On both routes, you will enjoy natural riding paths and a wonderful setting for horseback riding where you will get to know the friendly Icelandic horse. Total tour duration is 2,5 hours,1,5-2 hours riding. for beginners and experienced riders.NOTE: We only have pickup from Hotels,guesthouse and BSI Bus terminal reykjavik.

Please read your voucher. Pickup starts 30 minutes before departure! If a customer is not at the pickup point latest 5 minutes after pickup starts, there is a chance that the booking will be canceled. Morning pickup starts at 9:00 (for tours starts at 9:30) Afternoon pickup starts at 13:00 (for tours starts at 13:30) Pickup can take up to 20 minutes! What a wonderful experience! The guides were so nice and helpful and obviously love what they do! You should do this!
This tour is perfect from start to finish. We enjoyed every moment of the tour. Pickup was punctual, and the guide made the bus ride to the stables interesting with facts along the way. The separated riders based on experience level, and split the group in two. We were in the experienced group and got to Tolt our horses at least 8 different times. The ride was 1.5 hours long, and the horses were fantastic. The scenery was amazing as well. They provide helmets and rain gear (we did not need rain gear on our visit). They used our phones at a stop to take pictures of us on our horses which I really appreciated.
10/10 would recommend this experience! The guides were fantastic, the horses were gorgeous, and the scenery was brilliant. My aunt, my cousin and I truly enjoyed this adventure. PS - the available coffee, hot chocolate & tea at the end = perfect!

A little more instruction for beginners would have been a benefit. It was a very positive experience overall but it could have gone sour easily. Very happy we found your stables.
Seamless experience from pickup to drop off. Super friendly, attentive, and fun staff. Beautiful, well behaved horses, lovely scenery, and the opportunity to split our group to beginners and advanced groups. Loved having an opportunity to experience the tolt gait. Totally worth it, and a great way to spend a few hours in Iceland.
Had a fun adventure with Red Lava Riding. From pickup, equipment distribution and “horse matching”, the women very efficient and got us out on the trail quite quickly. They were very patient with the first-time riders in the group. After a photo op in the lava field, the group split with more advanced riders going ahead, to experience the Tolt gait only Icelandic horses can do…and the less adventurous riders continued to walk thru the eerie landscape. The whole trip was very well handled and a great experience.
It was a lot of fun! I would go back to do it again or maybe a even longer ride. Stjarna was the best sassy little horse!
I had such an amazing experience, from pick-up to drop-off! My hotel wasn't on the pick-up list, so I sent a message directly to the tour providers. They picked me up directly from my hotel, and all went smoothly. This was the first time I'd been on a horse in over 50 years, so that also had me a little nervous. Getting on the horse was the only difficult part, but the guides were there to help. Once I was in the saddle, my sweet horse and I became fast friends! She listened well, and our walk down the guided path was so beautiful! The guides even took pictures of me and my friends on our horses at a scenic location along our route. Everything was perfect, and I would definitely go again!
Did this horse riding experience on my last full day in Iceland after an amazing 13 day trip. Friendly horses, all safety was reviewed & guides were terrific with checking & then re checking our saddles, reins etc before return ride back to farm. Beginner friendly rides. Nice slow pace for those that need and a little quicker gait if out in front. I will say I was impressed over safety checks & making sure everyone was in correct helmet sizes, horse size & temperament etc Tour is only about 2hrs and that is a perfect little 1 1/2 hr ride with a transport van for the 15/20 mins drive time from Reykjavik. I haven't been back on a horse in quick a few years and I was completely comfortable doing this tour. I was orginially going to do this when I first arrived in Iceland but decided to do at end of my trip instead and glad I did as my butt bones were a bit sore the following day. It is a nice little walk through the country side, seeing the lava rock up close. The guide stops at that location and does free photos on everyone's camera for you. After the tour you are offered tea & coffee for those that wish. You can definitely tell these ladies are dedicated to their jobs and are very protective, passionate and proud of their beautiful horses. Great day. Fun little tour. Terrific guide riders.
