A church built over a sacred INKA Sun temple - a hybrid worship place is amazing to say the least. What adds to the beauty is the INKAN engineering and architecture- that has withstood the earthquakes in the 1900s whilst the Spanish built church experienced some damage. Their "plug and stay" architecture of a male part of stone and a female part of another stone - shows their ingenuity of addressing the earthquakes. Also to marvel is the curved stone (monolith) and mathematical precision to which these were laid out. You will find guides outside this church/temple - be sure to engage Miguel Sullcarana - he showed us all these with patience and his eloquent English - perhaps the best I have heard in Peru.
Thank you for sharing such a vivid and insightful review! 🌞⛪ The blend of Inkan and colonial architecture at the site truly is a marvel, and it's fascinating how the Inkan engineering continues to impress centuries later. We're glad to hear that Miguel Sullcarana enhanced your visit with his knowledge and excellent English—sounds like a guide worth recommending!
