I was surprised by this place. Beautiful beaches, lots of little restaurants, and hotels. Very touristy. A little disappointed I didn’t spend the night and see what more was there. The place had a bit of a hippie vibe.

We take you to Cabo de la Vela, the Salinas de Manaure and other special spots we have chosen for an unforgettable experience: You will feel the desert heat, pass trough untouched nature and sleep in humble indigenous acommodations in front of the sea. Please consider you will be in a remote part of the Country where the amenities such as water, electricity, internet etc. are not always available. You help the local and indigenous community with your tour booking because we donate a percentage to social projects.

This was definitely an experience. The landscapes were incredible! Unique mix of desert and sea with basically no one else around. However, we spent a lot of time in the car. In addition, we drove through extremely poor regions where the villagers are asking for food and water. One certainly feels like a privileged, white person being driven around, with proper meals and drinks, while the local people are struggling next door. The kind of trip that makes you think. Our guide was not really a guide, more of a driver. He was an incredible driver! A good man with a good heart that cared about the indigenous people. However, we were a bit disappointed since we were expecting a guide that would tell us about the history of the area and the people's customs. If you asked he would volunteer some information, but otherwise stayed quiet. If the guide tells you to get some cookies to give to the kids, don't get just one pack. Buy ALL the cookies! I booked directly with Toburu because it was discounted price. They had different prices based on the size of the group. We were just two people so we paid a steeper price but still shared the tour with 4 other people. The actual tour was done by Altaguajira, Toburu tours organized our trip with them and arranged transport from Palomino to Rihocha (and back, though the driver showed up 1 hour late).
Thanks for you Feedback, it is very important to know your opinion so we can improve our experiences! We do advise our travelers beforehand that the experience is unforgettable but a bit difficult in terms of weather due to the conditions of the landscape. The community that lives in La Guajira is unfortunately very poor, so our policy as a company is to donate a percentage of the tour fees to the local community that help to build local projects. We work together with local tour agencies to tailor the best tour experiences, so our guides will be inform and trained for future tours in order to make our travelers fully satisficed. We look forward to hearing form you soon in your next trip around our beautiful country! Best Regards To'Buru Tours
As a family with a toddler, this trip was a borderline experience. The tour really leads to nowhere - desert, beaches and desert let us relax. But you also have to be aware that this also comes at a price: No internet and phone. On the tour, there were some young fellow travellers who complained - perhaps not suitable for mobile phone addicts. We preferred to dedicate ourselves to the unique sunsets and enjoyed the time on the beaches and in the dunes. For these unique impressions we also gladly accepted the lack of comfort - how else are you supposed to get close to the indigenous people and their lifestyle when you are too attached to amenities such as electricity and bathrooms?!
The 3 days tour to Punta Gallinas & Cabo de la Vela was incredible, we were very lucky that our tour guide was so charmy and knew everything about the place, La Guajira is a wonderful place in Colombia, full of colors and great scenery, the beaches around the place are so wonderful, and punta gallinas located in the far north hemisphere of the south American continent is a place with unique energy and beautiful landscapes, Amazing! is all I can say...
We are very happy about your excellent rating! It's really great that the impressions of this tour have flashed you so much and that you recommend us - thanks! From now on you are one of our ToBuris - welcome to our international family!
La Guajira, Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas are beautiful places full of contrasts and incredible landscapes that look like works painted by Mother Nature. I am grateful to know those deserts and ancient cultures - it is ideal for travelers who love responsible tourism. Especially Cabo de la Vela is a desert region; therefore, it is important that you wear sunscreen, wear a cap or hat, comfortable clothes for the journey and swimwear for when you arrive at the beaches. Always carry a bottle of water with you to keep you hydrated. But the Guide tells you it is necessary and gives you a good time! Thank you for the 3 unforgettable days!
Nos esforzamos mucho para que nuestros recorridos sean una experiencia inolvidable, mucho mejor cuando funciona :) ¡Esperamos darle la bienvenida a un #ToBuruTour nuevamente! Mantente sano y curioso :)
