Punta Cana Offshore Deep Sea Fishing Charter

I Have fished twice with Big Marlin Charters and both times have been excellent. This year Captain Willie and mate Hector were great to converse with, put us on mahi for our dinner at Cielo( excellent by the way). Can’t wait to go back! We did 9 hours of deep sea fishing with the Cana boat. We had a great time and it was a fantastic experience. Crew top!!!

I hope this is the right one we booked through Sandra, local coordinator of XPO Tours Dominican Republic. From start to finish she was very responsive for a few last questions we had and all went wonderful smooth. Private pickup from our villa in Cocotal, just a 5 minutes ride to the boat and we could even take one extra person. The boat, equipment and crew was just fantastic and they managed to have our catch prepared at the beach restaurant upon our return. Thanks Sandra, Carlitos and the whole crew.

I recently had 2nr 9hr Charters with Big Marlin (Nov 2025). The first was on "Gone Dog" and the Second was on "Cana". Had Great Fishing on Both Days with the Crews being very knowledgeable and attentive. You can tell that catching fish is their passion. Caught my first ever Sailfish and my PB Mahi Mahi. If your in Punta Cana and want a good days fishing at very reasonable price I cannot recommend these guys enough. From booking, to transfers, to fishing all went smoothly and communication was excellent.

Very capable and willing to go the distance to get the bites . All fishing is hit or miss no blue Marlin but lots of mahi mahi. Worth the trip.

Great crew, they recommended Dramamine be taken one hour before and after about an hour into it we asked them to turn around due two our two girls were pulking off the side of the boat. Trsnsportstion was arranged for us and we were takem back to our resort Not the crew's fault at all!

Paid for 5 hours fishing or 4 hours fishing and 1 hour snorkeling. We told them up front if we felt fine we didn't want to snorkel and just fish. They didn't ask us what we wanted to do and just headed back after barely 3 hours fishing. So we were at the snorkeling spot 2+ hours before our trip was over. Snorkeling was not that great and gear was mediocre at best. I hear there are better places to go fishing out of.

Not a good fishing trip. I’ve been on many international fishing charters and this was probably the worst. While we didn’t catch much fish, the crew didn’t change tactics or bait. Additionally, there was not an offer to process the fish for us to take home. We actually had a 9hr trip scheduled for two days later and we cancelled. Most certainly don’t recommend.

The trip was for my wife and I. It was a 4 hour fishing trip. Time to be 8:00 to 12:00. We were told to be there by 7:45 and someone would take us to our boat. We were also asked if we needed an English or Spanish speaking mate. We said English. We were there a little early and were told that someone would come and open the gate at 8:00. Other people started to arrive while we were waiting. When we met our mate, he could speak very little English, but not much. We were the last one to get onto our boat, which was about 8:35. I am not a top flight tournament fisherman, but I have owned a boat and fished the North East US canyons for 40 years. My wife has not fished offshore with us at home because of the long days involved. I wanted this 4 hour trip for her to catch a billfish or mahi. The trip was pretty much going straight out, turning around and coming straight back in. At one point I tried to point out to the mate that one of the flat lines was missing the bait. He could not understand what I was saying. After about ten minutes I gave up. After about fifteen minutes he finally brought the line in to check it and saw that there was nothing on it. In all fairness we did catch 3 small barracuda. On the way back in we did have one strong bite that did not come tight. You would think that the captain would circle that area a couple of times, but no, we just kept heading straight in and even picked up speed. The mate never checked the line to see if the bait had been bitten. When he finally cleared the rods, it was clear one line had been bitten. We ended up being the first ones back at 11:55. So we were only on the boat for 3hours and 20 minutes. If you are looking to just get out on the water and maybe get lucky and catch a sailfish, then this trip would be ok.
