History, Culture and Everything In-Between in Punta Arenas
Our guide and driver were fantastic! Our guide took us to the normal highlights, but also to some of the out-of-the-way places that have really stuck in our memories. We hiked on trails through wind shaped forests and down paths along the shore of the Magellan Straights. The restaurant he took us to for lunch over looked the Straight of Magellan and the food and cold refreshments were so good. We saw a lot in only 5 hours. Highly recommend this excursion.
Operator response
Thanks, Randy. I’m glad you enjoyed the mix of Punta Arenas history, local culture, coastal trails, and the quieter places along the Strait of Magellan. It was a pleasure showing you around during your shore excursion.

Gerardo top guide very amabel, with a lot of knowledge of the area
We have the tour Punta Arenas & Parque del Estrecho Shared Group Experience
Great experience with guide Gerardo
We ended up being only a small group of 3 people
Gerardo knows an awful lot about the history of punta arenas, so much so that other guides consulted him
After visiting fort parque del Estrecho, we went to eat empanadas at a local eatery, empanadas with crab or shrimp or ham. Lovely and cozy in a small family restaurant
Then visited the city, tour cemetery, main square and said goodbye after 7.5 hours.

Very nice, private tour of Punta Arenas and the surrounding areas
We had a fabulous day with Gerardo in and around Punta Arenas; I had some specific requests and he accommodated everything we wanted to see. He was fun to hang out with and very informative. This was supposed to be a group tour but no one else booked; Gerardo reached out to me and offered us the tour anyway and we were happy to accept. We really enjoyed the day.

Punta Arenas flavor and feel
We did the Punta Arenas & Parque del Estrecho on a private tour with Gerardo. We could not have had a better time. The weather did not cooperate as it rained the first part but we still had a great tour. We toured the city, Fort Bulnes, the cemetery and stopped for a great empanada lunch. Gerardo informed us of the history and culture of Patagonia with a great deal of passion. Many go see The penguins, but I feel we got so much more from getting a flavor and feel of Punta Arenas.
Operator response
Thank you so much for sharing this thoughtful review.
We’re really glad the weather didn’t stop you from enjoying the day. Patagonia often has a mind of its own, and we believe how you experience a place matters more than perfect conditions.
Showing the flavor and feel of Punta Arenas, its history, everyday life, and stories, is exactly what we hope guests take away from a private tour. Penguins are wonderful, but understanding the place and its people adds a deeper layer to the journey.
Thank you for choosing to explore Patagonia with us. It was a pleasure sharing our home with you, and you’ll always be welcome back.

An exciting experience!
We were told there is absolutely nothing to see except penguins. Well, we wished to see just the penguins! Well, it was such an exciting thrilling experience! BUT…BUT…we found an extremely vibrant city with bustling bazaars and cafes and such an air of joyous atmosphere! Incredibly fun! And we found a Hindu temple which was closed but more than that we found three statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore and Mother Theresa….one finds statues of Gandhi but of the other two! We loved the city for the cheerful and truly HAPPY air about it and loved it because it was so very unexpected!!! Actually, we loved Chile and we loved the people of Chile …wherever we went, whatever we did…be it Valparaiso, Attacama, Santiago or Patagonia! …and totally crime free, super efficient officials and flawless management! Friendly and helpful! If one could learn Spanish and settle down there! Would be Bliss!

Could be better
Our tour guide was a young enthusiastic lady and we appreciate her but she should learn how to be a tour guide -- cuz we ended up asking all the questions instead of her explaining the whole thing to us. The lunch was not what we expected - it was in a place similar to an old school cafeteria. Am not sure why. There was not much to see in the park and one cannot read anything as nothing was in english.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm truly sorry to hear that your experience on the Punta Arenas & Strait of Magellan Park Value Excursion did not meet your expectations. At Amigos Patagonia, we strive to provide engaging, informative, and seamless tours, and I regret that we fell short in this instance.
We appreciate your comments regarding the guiding experience, and we will make sure to provide additional training to ensure all our guides deliver a more proactive and informative experience without relying on guests to lead the conversation. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve.
Regarding lunch, we always aim to offer a local and authentic experience, but I understand it didn’t meet your expectations. We will take your comments into account as we evaluate our restaurant choices. As for the Strait of Magellan Park, while its beauty lies in its historical and natural significance, we understand that language barriers can be a challenge. We will explore ways to enhance our explanations to make the experience more accessible and engaging for all visitors.
Again, I sincerely appreciate your honest feedback. If you ever return to Punta Arenas, I would love the opportunity to provide you with a more enriching and fulfilling tour experience.
Best regards,
Gerardo P. Jaque
