Itinerary
After meeting your guide, board one of our two fast and fun RIB speedboats for a cruise to Lundey or Akurey, an island known for its puffin population, just off the coast of Reykjavik. Puffins nest between May and August on this island, which is covered with small hills and slopes and known for its colorful bird life. As the island's shores are rocky, your puffin-watching boat is specially designed to get you as close to the shoreline as possible, so you can get an up-close look at these adorable creatures! On board, learn from your expert guide about the puffins as well as other interesting seabirds that you may spot on the tour, such as northern fulmars, gulls, arctic terns and black guillemots. Enjoy watching the seabirds flying and diving into the water. When you arrive at one of the puffin islands, circle around them for more observation time before the captain turns the engines off, allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet among Iceland’s natural treasures.

It can be difficult to see the puffins up close unless you’re lucky enough to have them swim by. Nevertheless, it was a fascinating journey and experience. Take plenty of pictures and crop for adorable close-up photos. Highly recommended and great value. Great way to pass an hour waiting for lunch or fantastic shopping in the area. They provide waterproof overalls and life jackets.
Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the RIB puffin-watching experience. Puffins can sometimes be a little elusive up close, but we're glad the journey itself was fascinating and that you were able to capture some great photos to remember the experience. It's also great to know that our waterproof overalls and life jackets helped keep you comfortable on the water. Thank you for recommending us and for highlighting the excellent value of the tour. We hope to welcome you aboard again on your next visit!
We had an awesome time, despite the drizzle and haze. The puffins didn't mind the weather and the coveralls kept us warm and dry! Kristine was so enthusiastic and helpful.
Thank you for your fantastic 5-star review! We're so happy to hear you had an awesome time on the tour, even with the drizzle and haze. As you discovered, the puffins are often perfectly content in Icelandic weather, and we're glad our coveralls helped keep you warm and dry throughout the experience. A special thank you for mentioning Christina. She is passionate about sharing Iceland's wildlife and will be thrilled to hear your kind words. We hope to welcome you aboard again for another memorable adventure!
Fantastic experience! Justina and the captain (whose name I’ve forgotten) gave us great insight on the puffins and we felt so lucky to see so many! A wonderful experience & a highlight of our trip. Thank you! A+++++
Loved this experience! Truly a special time out on the water. Our guide Celina was *wonderful*. She kept us entertained and truly taught us a lot about puffins, this part of Iceland and how the puffins interact with it, and when we even spotted a whale, she knew all about the species and information about its presence in the Reykjavík waters too. She truly made this experience an A+ one! Would absolutely recommend.
The upside was to see a lot of puffins on 2 Islands close to harbour. The dissapointment was a very slow ride despite warnings of danger of breaking the neck and safety equipment like glasses, gloves etc. and a powerfull RIB boat. The tour could have been done with a 10 hp regular boat
