Itinerary
the village of Gigondas was in Roman times known as Jucunditas (Latin for ‘to give oneself up to joy’) – a fitting name for a place dedicated to wine, where the winemaking tradition has developed for over two millennia.
The AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an internationally famous wine. An exceptional region The Châteauneuf-du-Pape region enjoys a wide range of soils, and particularly large rolled pebbles (diluvium alpin) above red clay, allowing the grapes to reach a very high degree of maturity. Well aware of the value of their heritage, the winemakers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape have committed themselves over the past few years to an approach aiming at defining and reinforcing the identity of their appellation, particularly through the different local areas and the diversity of grape varieties.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience visiting the Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine region through Viator. Our guides, Anna and Kelsey, were incredible-highly professional and knowledgeable in their fields. They truly elevated the entire tour. Coordinating logistics for a large group of 13 is never easy, but they handled our group seamlessly by splitting us into two comfortable vans. Additionally, the option to add on a drop-off service for an additional fee was a convenient and highly appreciated touch. The winery provided fans to offset its lack of air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable and well-organized experience on a hot day. Overall, it was a memorable, well-organized trip. Highly recommended!
It was a small group of 7 people, so it was harmonious I enjoyed tasting it. I was able to enjoy the world of wine with very polite explanations. It was great to taste bargain wines. It's very affordable.
This was so much fun! Our guide was great. I loved the wineries she took us to and we bought a few wines that we lugged around France (we took one bottle home). I loved meeting the female wine-maker at the last winery and loved learning all about the wines, too.
This was a fun and good learning experience! The pick up point was easy and the extended van was very comfortable. Our group stopped at 3 small charming old wineries and had a number of tastings at each. Because of their size, these wineries do not export to the U.S. but if you wanted to purchase wines, the wineries offered shipping. Points of interest were noted along the way. Yes, I recommend this tour!
We enjoyed our tour with Anne very much! She was informative and helpful and curated a great experience to wineries that we would not have discovered on our own.
Really enjoyed this wine tour. Packed with interesting information from the tour guide, and full of a variety of wines. Would do it again any time.
Tour guide Ann was great! We learned so much about the wine making process and sampled several wonderful wines.
This was great wine tour to three quite different wineries. Natalie was very informative and we had an opportunity to taste some extraordinary wines. Highly recommended.
Extraordinary experience. Natalie was a generous, thoughtful guide and all three wineries chosen were unique and compelling. Came away with great memories and great wine.
This intimate wine tour featuring three wineries of different sizes and offerings was by far one of the best wine tours we have had in France (we’ve done 5). Our guide Ann even gave us a look a small winery where we got to see how the owner/operator even grafted the root stock. What a treat. Thank you Ann.
