The Ashram was established in 1926 by Shree Aurobindo and 'The Mother'. Together they explored the possibilities of yoga and meditation as a path to salvation. At the ashram, residents continue to practice their teachings.
The museum has an eclectic collection of art, Pallava sculptures and more. Closed on Mondays.
See the exterior of the unique golf-ball shaped temple called the Matri Mandir, that is thronged by yoga practitioners. NOTE: Seen from outside only.

I had an incredible private tour around Pondicherry with an awesome guide! He was super flexible and took me to the places I wanted to and skipped the ones I wasn't that interested in. I got to see Pondicherry the way I wanted to see it - not just a standard way they show all the tourists.
