Private Tour from Bucharest: Veliko Tarnovo, Arbanasi & Tsarevets

We had an excellent day trip with Tavi to Bulgaria from Bucharest. Tavi is an informative guide - he scheduled all the sites to make for an entertaining day with variety. We visited the Basarboro monastery in the rocks - stunning, UNESCO Arbanasi, great local craft and knife artisans, the fortress at Veliko Tyrnovo, and after lunch a stop at a unique 11th century monastery. Just traveling around Bulgaria is fascinating and Tavi packed in as much as we could do in our one day. A great trip- we highly recommend.

Big 13-hour day that gives a very nice overview of Bulgaria from Romania. Monasteries, fortress, old town with an exceptional guide who knows his subject perfectly, welcoming, thoughtful, helpful, not counting his hours and adapting to our wishes. Long but smooth and very pleasant visit. Highly recommended!

Learning about Bulgaria was a great experience. Our guide not only answered our questions but gave us some very interesting information about Bulgaria and also Romania. He was able to show us very interesting details about each of the sites that we visited. He was a very pleasant guide and enjoyable to be with. I would highly recommend this guide for a lovely day, filled with unique sites and information.

Seeing interesting parts of Bulgaria, with a great guide, was a memorable experience for the both of us on this tour. Even though there was a long drive to get to Bulgaria from Bucharest, we both felt that it was worth going to the places we saw. The time for this tour was the whole day, but we enjoyed walking around both the rock monastery and the fort. The waterfall was a beautiful scenery spot. Finally, our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of both Romania and Bulgaria. He added a special touch to the places that we saw with all of his wonderful stories. He has a great personality. We never got tired of talking to him and finding answers to our many questions.

Today we had a wonderful day to Bulgaria thanks to Tavi our driver he gives us very good information about the history of Bolgaria it was very interesting we enjoyed our day. I recommend this trip.

We really enjoyed the excursion with Tavi, he knew everything from dates to events from all the areas we have visited. He has recommended us a restaurant also (Ego in Veliko Tarnovo) where we have eaten very well for very good price. And the strength of Tsarevets has been fantastic! Thank you.

Feb 2026 • Great excursion. Octavian was very knowledgeable and good fun. Crossed from Romania to Bulgaria and viewed a church and a fortress and also had a nice meal. Without giving anything away it, the places visited were very different from what we were expecting but worth it!

It was amazing and the Octavian guide of 10. He's taught us and accompanied us all along. He is very professional and we have learned from Bulgarian history a lot. He has taken us to a restaurant where the food has been excellent. A unique experience and would repeat with Octavian, for sure. Thank you.
