Amazing Cultural Experience – Highly Recommended!
This was truly one of the most beautiful excursions we had during our trip. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and incredibly enjoyable.
The day began with a punctual hotel pickup in Akumal by our guide Carlos, who gave us a very warm welcome. From the very beginning, he made us feel comfortable and set the tone for a fantastic day.
Our first stop was Tulum, followed by Cobá, where we were transported by bicycle rickshaws – such a fun and unique experience! After that, we continued to the stunning Cenote Ik Kil, where we had plenty of free time to swim and enjoy a relaxing lunch.
The highlight of the trip was, of course, Chichén Itzá. It’s an absolutely impressive and fascinating site. Carlos made the entire experience even better with his engaging storytelling, deep knowledge, and great sense of humor. He explained everything in a very interesting way and always made sure everyone felt included and comfortable.
Overall, this tour was an unforgettable experience and we learned so much about the Mayan culture. We can highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Overall we had an amazing time! We did the tour as a family with a toddler! Our guide Carlos explained everything very detailed and had always a fun anecdote to tell! We can only recommend the tour, it’s a lot for one day but with a guide as experienced and fun, it goes by smoothly! The driver was also very friendly and we felt save the whole trip!

No show
Viator told us pick up was 6:30 am. That’s a little painful on vacation, but we thought it was worth it to see the ruins. They were over an hour late, with no communication. Then told us we had the time wrong. I was looking at tickets, emails and texts all showing 6:30 am. Sadly, we did not feel comfortable using this company to take us safely to the Mexican ruins at that point and were forced to make other arrangements. Viator’s local team has been difficult and completely tone deaf to the situation and refusing to refund our family.
Operator response
Dear Alisa,
We regret that you feel this way, but we’d like to clarify the details. According to the confirmation sent to you via Viator’s messenger, your pickup time was scheduled for 7:30 AM, based on your location in Riviera Maya. Pickup times vary depending on the hotel’s location, and we informed you of this in October when you booked the tour.
Our guide arrived at the designated spot at 7:29 AM, but you informed him that you would not be joining the tour and you had already made other plans for today. You also confirmed this with our office. We reminded you that, according to the cancellation policy, a refund would not be possible, and you stated that you would insist on getting one.
We do not understand how you can fairly evaluate the tour and the guide’s work if you did not participate. We value honest feedback and are always willing to assist in case of genuine issues, but in this case, the facts speak for themselves.
Best regards,
The OlMar Travel Team

Fun and informative day
Going to three archeological sites in one day seemed daunting when we started, but our guide, Olga, made the entire day entertaining as well as educational. He was a fount of information on the sites, the history, and the local area. We would highly recommend this tour for older children and adults.

Dissapointing, misleading, false information
To began with our pick up time was scheduled for 630am at Villa del Palmar Costa Mujeres in northern Cancun resorts, driver not punctual.
Driver kept on texting as he was driving us to Tulum, and texting continued to Coba and still more texting while driving to a different Cenote not originally on the tour, and texting and phone calls continued to Chichenitza and at Chichenitza did not even get to see the Caracol or Mayan observatory, For the almost 1,800.00 U.S Dollars spent would not use your company again, Felt unsafe driver on phone talking, making phone calls and constantly texting throughout the entire excursion!!!!!!!!! As a company you should not use 3rd party drivers!!!!!!
Operator response
Dear Ruben,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very surprised by your evaluation, as all our guides have extensive experience and a longstanding record of excellent service. In particular, Luis—who accompanied you on your tour—has consistently received outstanding reviews, and we have never encountered any suggestion of unprofessionalism on his part.
We would also like to clarify that your pick-up time was scheduled for 7:00 AM, not 6:30 AM, as indicated in the personal message we sent you in advance. This message included detailed instructions on what to bring and a request to confirm receipt. Additionally, on the day of your tour, we remained in contact with you via WhatsApp, coordinating your pick-up and ensuring a smooth connection with your guide.
Regarding your concerns about phone use, our guides always wear headsets and follow strict protocols. They only communicate with our office to confirm arrival and departure from scheduled locations, ensuring a seamless experience and eliminating unnecessary waiting times for guests. At no point do they use their phones for personal calls or texting while driving, as safety is always our top priority.
Additionally, we reviewed the service evaluation form you completed after the tour. Your ratings were excellent across all categories, and in the comments section, you wrote:
"Excellent service. Very comfortable transportation. Very informative tour."
Finally, we want to emphasize that we do not use third-party drivers. All of our drivers and guides are carefully selected and trained to uphold the highest standards of service and professionalism.
We kindly invite you to contact us directly so we can better understand your concerns and address them in detail. Your feedback is important to us, and we are committed to ensuring every tour is both safe and enjoyable.
Best regards,
The OlMar Travel Mexico Team

Mayan Ruin Tour Was Exceptional
Great experience. Just the right amount of time at each location and it’s packed with interesting history. Our personal guide was exceptional. An added plus was lunch at a Cenote. Take time for a quick swim. Very refreshing on a hot day.

Our guide Alvaro was a wealth of knowledge about everything we came across on our tour, from details about the ruins to animals we saw. It's clear he is highly knowledgeable, and he even had a sidebar conversation with my partner about languages and word origin. The tour was so well organized, we never waited on line anywhere, and he managed to get photos of us at all the major sites where it looked like we were the only visitors. We have done many tours through Viator, and this is one of the best.
