Private Surin Islands Longtail Boat Tour

We had the most wonderful day at Surin Islands with Ariel. Our children are 9 and 11 and this was their first time snorkelling so we chose a private longtail tour so that we would have more flexibility. During the day we stopped at 3 separate snorkelling sites and two beaches and our schedule was brilliantly planned so that we didn’t encounter many other tourists at any of the sites. The islands are spectacularly beautiful and we all saw a great variety of fish and coral. Ariel was so kind throughout the whole day and made every part of the trip smooth and enjoyable. I would really recommend this trip to anyone, but particularly those with children wanting to avoid a busy boat.

We did the Surin Islands with private longboat tour while staying at Khao Lak. Discovery travel has been amazing since we booked this tour along with several transfers in Thailand. The planning, booking and then experience with this company has been of a very high standard. Very professional, informative and excellent communication - with messages being sent a head of time to ensure our experience was seamless and stress free. The tour to Surin Islands is not to be missed. The snorkelling was exceptional and our guides made sure we had an awesome unforgettable experience. Our guide Beny was lovely and took great care of us. Making sure we had plenty of time to relax, snorkel and take in the best of the Surin islands. Amazing lunch included. We highly recommend this company and especially this particular tour which is up there with the best we have done!

We had such a wonderful day with our lovely private guide Goff. Everything ran like clockwork, from our hotel pick up, how he looked after us at the ferry port taking care of collecting our equipment and paying fees, and of course guiding us on our private longtail boat trip. We transferred from the ferry to our private longtail at Moken Village, then we visited 3 different snorkelling spots during the day. Goff was very knowledgeable about the area and the history, showed us the beautiful corals and initially came in the water with us to make sure we knew what fish we were looking at. We were supplied with a simple, but delicious lunch on North Surin Island, and my gluten free needs were well catered for. We then had a chance to relax on Ao Chong Khad beach, before carrying on with our snorkelling adventure. Goff was very responsive to our needs, including the departure back from the ferry terminal. As it was Valentine's Day and we'd booked a table at the hotel's special event, we didn't need to stay for the food provided by Wow Andaman. Our only negative comments: we took towels with us from the hotel as the tour operator told us they weren't supplied, but they actually were! As an older lady with an old knee injury, I found climbing into and out of the longtail boat at each snorkel stop quite challenging. The ladders are quite basic, but my husband and Goff were there to help me.

We booked the Surin Island Private Tour through Discovery Travel. Communication was good from start to finish. This trip involves going on the shared speedboat out to Surin and then swapping to the private longtail. Our guide Ya Ya was brillant. She ensured we got good spots on the speedboat (as it was rough). The longtail boat wasn't fancy, very basic. Once there we opted not to visit the village as we wanted to maximise our snorkeling time. Our guide picked good spots away from the crowed groups. Our only disappoinment on this trip was lunch. Firstly we were taken back to the crowed beach that had all the boats (and fuel smells). So not good for swimming. Secondly lunch itself wasn't good (compared to other day trips we did). For the high price of this day it would have been nice to go to a private beach away from the masses and I felt the food could have been a higher standard given the price point (7000TBH per person). Overall a good day, but I think value for money is a little questionable. Having said that, the snorkeling was brilliant in all 3 locations, so that was a big plus.

We booked the private tour which consisted of a shared boat En route to Surin with 25 other people. So not too crowded. We were met at 07:45 by our guide for the day the lovely Aoom. She informed us she would be our guide for the entire tour.The drive to Wow Andaman pier was only 15 mins from our hotel in khao Lak. From there Aoom did everything from towels , snorkel gear. And we even boarded the boat 15 mins before anyone else to store our bags and choose our seats. She warned us it may get bumpy and could get wet. We chose the seats aft across the boat closest to the engines. More space and although noisy , bring your own foam ear plugs but please do not throw them away afterwards.We got a few sprays of water and felt 100% safe at all times with life jackets on. It’s a long ride though 2 hours. Once at the island we jumped onto our own longtail boat for the next 4 hours . We had 2 snorkel stops of around 45 mins each which were incredible with an abundance of marine life and crystal clear waters. WOW. Aoom apologised as usually we would get taken to a secluded spot for snorkelling but as wind and tide made this unsafe we stayed pretty close but not on top of the main groups. We were then taken to a stunning secluded beach with powder sand for a private picnic. Truly incredible setting for our Christmas Day lunch 🙏😎. We then had another 45 mins snorkel in the underwater paradise, before heading to the Morgen sea gypsy village.They sell all handmade trinkets and wooden carvings. We made a few purchases, I think it’s only right to help the Morgen people. We the. Headed back across the Andoman sea to Khao Lak , better wether on the return. Bizarrely though , no life jackets on the way back. I found this very odd.

Don’t be deceived, it’s not a private tour, a group tour!!!!! Also, they don’t have choice for kids, that’s a cheat as well, they will charge you on site

Our private tour was really amazing, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made our experience memorable. Mhan was such truly lovely guide. We will hold him in our memories, u couldn’t asked for a better guide. Also a shout out to the tour company who made our experience five stars.

Fantastic Day and so nice to be away from the crowds. Nai the guide was brilliant. Snorkeling was great such clear water and picnic on the beach (just us) was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

While we thought this was just a booking agency, Discovery Travel was so much more. Greeted by our guide Kiwi and driver at our hotel in Khoa Lak, they took us to the pier. We ate breakfast and had coffee. There were a lot of tourists so we didn’t know what to expect. Kiwi was with on our entire journey making sure we had the best of everything on our day adventure to Surin islands. Kiwi made sure we were first on the fast boat to the islands. Once we arrived, our group of 4 was met by our longtail boat (Captain and 2 small boys - Captain's son and cousin). We were quickly off to our first snorkel before any other groups. Kiwi was with us in the water and her love for the sea and adventure was amazing. We snorkeled a total of 3 great locations with no other boats or tourists. We loved the beautiful water and many beautiful types of coral. My wife especially liked all the bright green. Many fish and a big Moray eel. Loved the huge school of Barracudas! We ended our day at the local village were Kiwi recommended face paint - Which was special meeting a local girl who painted my face. Thanks Kiwi and Discovery Travel for making this such a special day in the Surin Islands! Kiwi, you were such an awesome guide! Highly recommend!
