Private: Mythology, Acropolis Museum & Acropolis Tour

We had an outstanding experience with Alternative Athens and would highly recommend combining two of their tours: the Beat the Heat Acropolis Tour in the morning, followed by the Acropolis Museum tour later that afternoon. Taking a break for lunch and some rest in between made for a perfect day. Our private Beat the Heat Acropolis Tour for our family of eight was led by Maria, who has a PhD in archaeology. While it was still hot (it's Athens in June!), the early start definitely helped. Maria's knowledge of Greek history, mythology, and archaeology brought the Acropolis to life. Rather than simply pointing out monuments, she explained the stories behind them and helped us understand why they remain so significant today. What impressed us even more was her kindness. My 80-year-old mother was determined to make it to the top, and Maria encouraged and supported her throughout the climb. She also helped arrange for my mother and me to use the glass elevator on the way down, making the experience much more manageable. That afternoon we toured the Acropolis Museum with Sophia, who also has a PhD in archaeology. She was equally knowledgeable and passionate, and the museum tour perfectly complemented what we had learned that morning. Sophia put everything we had seen at the Acropolis into context, allowing us to connect the artifacts with the places we had just visited. The two experiences together created a much richer understanding than either one would have on its own. If you're visiting Athens, I highly recommend this combination. See the Acropolis first while it's cooler, take a break for lunch, and then visit the museum in the afternoon. It was one of the most rewarding days of our trip.

We had a wonderful morning tour of the acropolis and museum focused on mythology. Really engaging for my 10 year old and both parents! Highly recommend

She made everything very easy going and her depth of knowledge and heart in Greek history made the expierence all the more enjoyable. Our tickets were included which I would also recommend anyone booking to do. It makes the whole tour more streamlined.

Maria was extremely knowledgeable, informative and kept the children engaged. Marika was amazing! The morning tour was engaging and insightful, although she does this everyday, it truly felt like she wanted to be there with us. We had a lot of fun in the morning. Then, for the afternoon museum tour, even though no one else showed, she still gave us the full tour. A private tour!! Again, I can not say enough good things about Marika and her tour.

We had sighed up for an 8 hr. tour of Athens. The AM guide was very good and the walking tour of the Greek ruins was very interesting. The PM guide of the Parthenon Museum was very interesting but I think it would have been better to have the time to look around without the guide.
