Nemea should be on the itinerary of every traveler to the Peloponnese. The Temple of Zeus / Jupiter: Dating around the 4th century BC, the center piece of the Macedonian building program was the temple of Nemean Zeus. The seating capacity was for approximately 40 000 visitors. 1.The Apodyterium: The Apodyterium is where athletes got undressed, oiled their skin and prepared for the games. The Ancient Stadium Crypt: Over 36 m. in length and for the most part in very good condition it is the entrance tunnel that makes the Nemean games unique. It is the passage through the tunnel, clad in chiton and with bare feet that effects the transformation of the participant from a modern to an ancient. The tunnel thus plays the critical role in the accomplishment of our goal to provide an opportunity for anyone and everyone to become an ancient Greek athlete. It is here we see ancient athletes names engraved on the walls together with dedications to the goddess of Victory, ΝΊΚΗ NIKE. The stadium track and starting grid characterized by toe grooves cut into the stone block.

The tour experience was wonderful! Our driver Peter had an incredible knowledge of the area that we were going and relationships with the people that we visited. We learned a lot from him - both about history and from his personal life experience with his family. The winery experience was a perfect end to the tour with delicious wine and an informative guide. I would absolutely recommend this to anybody who is looking to both experience the history of Greece and have a relaxing day.
Dear Michael, Thank you for your fantastic review! We’re thrilled that you had such a memorable experience with Peter, whose passion for history and local connections truly bring each tour to life. It’s wonderful to hear that the winery visit was the perfect way to unwind and savor the flavors of Greece. Your kind words mean the world to us, and we’d love to welcome you again for another unforgettable journey. Warm regards from Athens and the team at AGT.
Peter is the best tour guide we’ve ever had: filled with positive energy and historical knowledge. We learned so much from him about Ancient Greece and the Greece of today. He was prepared for the trip with a nice, comfortable vehicle, plenty of water, and local cookies. Palivou Wine was tasty & the Corinth canal and the Mycenae ruins were very interesting to see. Peter also let us out at each stop for us to explore vs tagging along with us, allowing us as much time at each site as we wanted, which I really like. But he did help take pictures for us, which was also very nice! Excellent driving, excellent tour guide, great tour!
Thank you for your glowing review! We’re thrilled to hear that Peter made such a positive impression with his energy and historical knowledge. We appreciate your kind words and are delighted that you had an excellent experience. We look forward to welcoming you on another tour soon! Best regards, The AGT Team
There is so much to say! This tour was just Marvelous. Putting several famous locations in one day is no easy task - alongside a dinnner and fabulous winery experience!. But this is real and the tour was extremely well put together - Thanks to our incredible guide Yannis. It is well paced, and you get to the sites before the tour buses! A tour good for different kinds of travellers. Since we already did the corinth canal, our guide was kind enough to take us to the location of the only remaining pulley road for the boats. We really appreciated the effort!
Hi Nathan! Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the well-paced tour and appreciated the effort Yannis put into creating a memorable experience. It’s wonderful to know that the combination of famous sites, dinner, and a winery visit made for a marvelous day. We’re thrilled Yannis could personalize the tour to make it even more special for you, Darren and Jamie. We hope to see you all again in the future. Best regards, The AGT Team
We had a fantastic time on our day excursion! Our tour guide, Yannis, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was very attentive to our needs, bringing us pasteries in the morning and water while we were walking the ancient sites. The winery and lunch were very nice, we all bought a bottle and the staff at the restaurant were fantastic. We had the whole Nymean site and arena to ourselves which was nice. Not crowded at all. Overall our favorite day so far on our vacation!
Thank you so much for your wonderful 5* review! We're thrilled to hear that you had a fantastic time on your day excursion with us exploring ancient Greece. Yannis is indeed a gem, and we're delighted that his knowledge and friendly demeanor added to your experience. Having the Nemean site and arena to yourselves must have been truly special. We're honored to hear that this was your favorite day so far, and we look forward to welcoming you back for more unforgettable adventures in the future!
I can't recommend George highly enough. He was a great guide, knew his history and welcomed our schedule to take time seeing the sights that we wanted to spend time at.
Our tour guide, Manos, was incredible! He was very knowledgeable, met us right on time and gave us ample time at each location we visited to explore the ruins, take photos or enjoy the wine. We particularly liked they way he told the history or a story about the area we were about to get to so that we had some perspective going to each site. We absolutely recommend this trip for anyone interested in a brief history and tour of ancient Greece outside the immediate Athens area. The wine tasting made for a nice break during the day.
Knowledgeable and friendly guide that really made the tour come to life. Full day experience with 5 stops, the longest being the ruins at Mycenae. Loved the sites at Nemea
We had such a wonderful time—Michael, our driver, was on time and was absolutely great. He made sure to check and review every next step and was thorough in making sure the tour met our expectations. We had the perfect amount of time at each destination and the wine tasting was so much fun! Micheal then suggested a lunch place that was tasty and had an incredible view of the Archaia Korinthos ruins. Thank you Michael for making this a fun and enjoyable tour, we will definitely reach out again to do another tour!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Tas was very knowledgeable, accommodating and really worked to give us an appreciation for the Greek culture and people. It was a very special day for our family and I can’t imagine that anyone would not consider this tour a phenomenal addition to their trip.
Terry was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and flexible in adjusting the tour to my interests. He was punctual and kept me on schedule through a very busy day. I had a wonderful time much enhanced by his commentary and educational comments. I highly recommend him and this tour.
