Embark on a transformative journey through the Ancient Agora of Athens, a site rich in history and significance, where Apostle Paul delivered his powerful speech to the Athenians. As you walk through this vibrant archaeological site, you’ll encounter the ruins of temples, statues, and public buildings that once served as the heart of ancient Athens. This tour, following in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul, not only brings to life the philosophical debates and religious history of the city but also offers a glimpse into the spiritual crossroads that shaped early Christianity. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere where faith, culture, and politics intertwined, creating a powerful connection to both ancient Greece and the rise of Christianity.

30 min

Visit the iconic Areopagus Hill, one of Athens’ most significant historical sites, where the Apostle Paul stood and addressed the Athenians about the "Unknown God." This ancient rock, overlooking the bustling city below, became the stage for one of the most pivotal moments in the spread of Christianity. As part of your tour, you will learn about the profound impact of Paul's speech, which challenged the intellectual and religious paradigms of ancient Greece. Enjoy stunning panoramic views of the city and the Acropolis while reflecting on the site’s importance in both ancient Greek history and the early Christian church.

20 min

Visit the Church of St. Dionysius the Areopagite, a revered site dedicated to the first Athenian convert of the Apostle Paul. St. Dionysius, a respected judge of the Areopagus, was profoundly impacted by Paul's teachings on the "Unknown God" and became one of the earliest followers of Christianity in Athens. This church stands as a tribute to his conversion and his significant role in spreading Christianity in Greece. As part of your tour, you’ll explore the historical connection between St. Dionysius and Apostle Paul, and gain insight into how their paths intertwined in the early days of the Christian faith. The church offers a peaceful atmosphere, with beautiful architecture and a deep spiritual significance, marking a key moment in both Athenian and Christian history.

Isthmus of Corinth, a narrow land bridge that has connected the Peloponnese with mainland Greece for millennia. The Corinth Canal, a marvel of 19th-century engineering, cuts through the rock to create a shortcut for maritime trade. The panoramic views and historical importance of this site provide an excellent introduction to the adventure.

20 min

The eastern port of Kenchreai, a key commercial hub during the Roman era, serves as the next destination. This historic site is where Apostle Paul arrived in 53 A.D. Today, the remnants of Roman harbor facilities, temples, and early Christian structures bring to life the vibrant history of ancient Corinth.

Paul's Column in the Roman Forum The Bema, an elevated platform in the Roman Forum, is the next highlight. This is where Apostle Paul delivered his teachings in a city dominated by pagan traditions. The Bema of Apostle Paul in Ancient Corinth is a significant historical and religious site. This elevated platform in the Agora served as a place for public addresses and legal rulings. During the Roman period, it functioned as a tribunal where governors issued judgments. According to tradition, Paul the Apostle was brought before Gallio, the Roman proconsul, around 51 AD. Accused of spreading new religious teachings, Paul was dismissed by Gallio, allowing him to continue his mission. This event, recorded in Acts 18:12-17, marks Corinth as a key site in early Christian history. Today, the Bema is both an archaeological and spiritual landmark, drawing visitors seeking connection to the biblical narrative. Modern mosaics depicting Paul’s trial and journey enhance the atmosphere, making it a profound site of reflection within the ancient ruins of Corinth.

A day of adventure!

Great adventure through the places Apostle Paul walked...our guide was knowledgeable but could not accompany us at any of the sites so we hiked up to the fortress, walked ancient Corinth and the Agora by ourselves after a bit of information. He provided waters since it was so hot and that was extremely helpful!

Operator response

Thank you for your kind review! We’re happy you enjoyed the experience. Just to clarify, we are driver-guides and not licensed site guides, so we cannot accompany guests inside archaeological sites. We provide information before entry and are always happy to help.

Unforgettable Tour!

We had a wonderful FULL day with our tour guide Maria! She understood just what we were looking for & included so many interesting sites & facts. We were especially interested in the journey of Saint Paul & Maria made sure to point out his influence at every important site. She helped us understand his journey throughout Greece & specifically in Athens & Corinth. We visited beautiful churches as well as historical sites. The castle view & lunch was a treat. A highlight for me was standing on Mar’s Hill & reading Acts 17. I highly recommend this tour!! Thank you Maria!!
