5 Star Tour Guide

Our tour guide. “John the Archaeologist” was super knowledgeable about all things about the tour. He gave us an extensive history about the Pantheon, acropolis and Athens itself. Helped take pictures for us to document the trip and even food and drink recommendations. 5 star tour

Great tour for the price and learning experience

Just got back from the Acropolis & Parthenon guided walking tour and museum with Athens Walks Tour Company, and I have to say, it was really good! Our tour guide, Ioannis, did an excellent job explaining the history and making the tour enjoyable. We had water breaks and plenty of opportunities to stop, take pictures, and take everything in. At $127, it was definitely worth it! The tour was about 2½–3 hours, so if you have the time, I highly recommend it. Definitely wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of water! 😂 We went after 4 PM and still sweated like crazy. I drank about three bottles of water, so hydrate before and during the tour. A lot of history, a lot of walking, and a lot of fun. Highly recommend Athens Walks Tour Company! 🇬🇷

A great tour guide can make all the difference.

The guide, John, we had took extra care to make sure everyone was well taken care of. His knowledge and enthusiasm made this a very memorable climb to the top. The museum portion was also very enjoyable. Very appreciative of his kindness.

Buyer Beware!

Although I gave a poor rating of this experience, for those interested in the full tour, which includes the museum, I would say, don't hesitate going, but maybe consider doing it on your own. The experience of seeing the ancient ruins in person blew my mind. I had been envisioning this day since I was a young child (am now 70) and was not disappointed. On the other hand, there was miscommunication regarding our tour start location. We had documentation that we would be met in front of our hotel. After about a 30 minute wait beyond the designated time, we were informed by our hotel clerk of a phone call indicating a different location and we proceeded to walk there. After waiting there for ~15 minutes, we made attempts to call the tour company only to find the first # was no longer valid and the emergency # only allowed us to leave a message. After we finally received a callback, we were told to go to ta third location to meet our guide. In all, it put us nearly 1 hour behind. Several times during our tour, our guide received a phone call. Apparently it was pertaining to her next tour group, who were waiting for her. After each call, she began rushing us, telling us we were running out of time; the entire tour was rushed. We didn't relax until after we reached the Parthenon. Further, our guide spoke so fast, we had difficulty comprehending much of what she said. There were also numerous times that there was miscommunication between us and we finally quit asking questions.

Incredible Tour

Michael G. was an incredible tour guide! He was informative, funny, engaging and genuinely proud to share his knowledge of his country’s history. The tour itself was a good length and provided a solid overall view of the history behind the site and its buildings. There is definitely a fair amount of walking, including the slow climb to the top, and some quite slippery areas, so use caution. I would recommend this tour (and company) to anyone. I visited the Acropolis Museum on my own prior to the tour, but I would HIGHLY recommend a guided tour of that in conjunction with the visit for the Acropolis and Parthenon.
