Private Lower East Side Food and Neighborhood Tour

Description
The Lower East Side is one of New York City’s most historic immigrant neighborhoods—a place where generations of newcomers began their American story. Since the 1840s, waves of immigrants from Germany, Italy, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia have settled here, shaping the neighborhood into one of the most culturally rich areas in the city. On this engaging walking tour, you’ll explore the streets where these communities lived, worked, and built new lives. Discover why immigrants were drawn to the Lower East Side, how the neighborhood transformed over time, and what led many families to eventually move on. Combining food, history, and culture, this tour offers a flavorful journey through the neighborhood that helped shape New York City—and the American immigrant experience.

Patrick amazing visit in chinatown and little italy. Amazing foods, well explained the history, and good energy. Very worth it
We had a guide, Patrick, who was spectacular. He was very lively and happy about his work. I recommend it for exploring the fabulous corners that the city has to offer.
Who was a fantastic core guide! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Answered my questions very well. Would highly recommend her to other groups!
Great tips for small shops where you would never have gone in alone. Great New York specialties for small money, very personable and knowledgeable guide.
The tourguide John didn´t particular made an event out of this far over-priced tour. Being a private tour of two, he even didn´t bother to find out the name of my friend. The ipad screen being smudgy and pictures difficult to read (on my comment on this I got back a ´o yes, that happens´). Mentioned we keep kosher he elaborated on a standard beef jerky joint, which we should really try. Well yes, not for us. The start of the tour is in front of the magnificent Eldridge Str Synagogue. I knew the entrance fee was not included, but also John intended to discourage us from going in because the tour was after all a food tour. All in all, we have had many, many excellent tourguides and believe John has a few things to learn how to attend to tourists (listening better never hurt anyone).
Liz was an incredible walking tour guide! She is so knowledgeable and passionate about the city, its history, and its people. 20/10 tour skills! There was an awesome variety of foods to try and it was all delicious! We loved that on this tour you are shown places, given history, and given suggestions, but then choose which foods to purchase and eat. Most food tours pre-select and limit what you're going to eat, so that was a nice difference and allowed us to tailor it to our food preferences. We loved trying foods from a variety of cultures and it was a great walk around the Lower East Side. 10/10 recommend!
Great fun. Grand experience. Historical Good food. Recommend if in New York City . Good web site to get attention
Christina was great! Very sweet and informative. Would recommend to anyone wanting a different experience .
My wife and I had a great time on this tour. Our guide, Gabby, did an excellent job of teaching us about the area, local buildings and of course the local food. Although we are from the NYC area, we were surprised to learn about the immigrants who came to the LES and how the area changed with each immigration wave. Gabby kept the tour moving and allowed us to sample (buy) food at local spots, even fitting in a bathroom break. Highly recommend this tour.
Christine is amazing. Had a really great time and much fun. Thanks a lot. If we come back we will definitely do a tour again.
